Garden gala raises more than $80,000 The Evening in the Garden Gala held on May 31 at the Ramada Plaza raised over $84,235 – with net proceeds of $51,414 – for the Abbotsford Community Foundation (ACF) and its six charity partners. The funds will support summer camps held by the Canadian National Institute for the Blind and The Reach Gallery Museum, mentorship programs for at-risk kids by the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Fraser Valley and assist kids with development needs through the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre. The money will also support the Abbotsford Regional Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit through the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation, and will feed families through Abbotsford Community Services’ Family Centre programs. “Gala funding will also support the Abbotsford Community Foundation’s Smart and Caring Community initiative to help children living in poverty in our community,� said ACF executive

Annual Municipal Report

Multi-Materials British Columbia

Pursuant to the Community Charter, the City of Abbotsford Annual Municipal Report will be presented at the Executive Committee meeting of Council at 3:00 pm, on Monday, June 23, 2014, in the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium, 32315 South Fraser Way, Abbotsford, BC. The public will be given an opportunity to speak to the Annual Municipal Report at the meeting.

The City of Abbotsford is not currently participating in the Multi-Materials British Columbia (MMBC) program for curbside collection. MMBC is a provincially approved product stewardship program, created to regulate the recycling of all packaging and printed paper in BC. The City of Abbotsford will be reviewing options for joining the MMBC program, but will not participate until 2015 at the earliest.

The Annual Municipal Report will be available for public inspection during regular of¿ce hours, excluding statutory holidays, from June 9, 2014, in the Finance & Corporate Services Department on the 6th Àoor of City Hall.

Curbside collection of recyclables in Abbotsford will continue as usual. Please continue to place recycling out weekly on your collection day.

Learner and Novice restrictions are not permitted. Successful applicants will be required to obtain a Standard First Aid certi¿cate with CPR and complete the Police Of¿cer’s Physical Ability Test (POPAT). Additionally, hearing, vision and medical clearance forms will be required.
