Women in Business

IDEAS

to Grow your Business Sarah McRae My husband William started Keshiki Gardening in the spring of 1981, I joined him shortly after. We had no idea of the great adventure that we had embarked upon. At that time there weren’t any cell phones, computers were a rarity, the biggest screen you could get for your t.v. was 21 inches to view both channels available and business was conducted with a hand shake! (btw no one had even heard of bottled water)!! We have seen many changes over thirty three years in business but the one thing that has not changed is our commitment to our customers. Whether it is grounds maintenance, irrigation services or snow removal we pride ourselves in keeping updated and educated so we can give our customers the best service possible. We find great joy in our work, our customers and our life in the Okanagan Valley. Many of our loyal customers have been with us from the beginning, I believe that says something about our work ethic. Besides work, I also have a great time at Zumba, enjoy a good book and most of all visits with our sons Jonathan and Christopher who are now off on their own adventures.

Dr. Shelby Entner Some new and exciting opportunities have happened this year for Dr. Shelby Entner! She is pleased to announce the opening of Vero Health Naturopathic Care, a vision she has created with her team of health care practitioners and staff to help meet the demand for natural medicine in the Okanagan. After over 13 years of clinical practice, Dr. Entner saw an opportunity to expand her services and has opened Vero Health in the same location of her last clinic, Okanagan Natural Medicine. Known for her easy going, realistic approach to treatment programs, her patients appreciate her ability to take complex information and explain it in a manner that is straight forward and relevant to understand. Dr. Entner is one of only a few physicians in BC who has been accredited by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine in bio-identical hormones. Her specialty and passion is to help women to make sense of their health and her clinical expertise is in all aspects of women’s health – from puberty to menopause. Her experience in women’s health has made her a sought after speaker and expert in many North American conferences, magazines and local events. Dr. Entner also enjoys a practice that helps men and women with digestive issues, skin concerns, autoimmune disease, cardiovascular disease, stress related illnesses, fertility, pediatrics and detoxification. Besides running a busy practice and trying to figure how to blog, Shelby also enjoys her family time with her husband Ryan, son Aidan (11) and daughter Senna (8). She is looking forward to lots of camping this summer and enjoying the Okanagan summer!

etting a startup off the ground is a considerable and rewarding achievement. But once a business has achieved a certain level of success, business owners often find themselves wondering what to do next. Growing a business may not

prove as challenging as turning it from a startup into a successful enterprise, but business owners often agonize over the best way to grow their businesses. The following are a few ideas to grow your business so you can build on your initial success.

Roxanne Petruk, RMT Roxanne is dedicated to helping people live a life of vitality. In her massage therapy practise at Vero Health, she provides comprehensive massage care. She is excited about sharing her focused training in visceral manipulation and is passionate about helping her clients achieve their optimal health. Her education in visceral manipulation allows her to witness the bodies amazing ability to heal itself. Pregnancy, abdominal surgery, infection, injuries, and food sensitivities, can all affect the tissues surrounding our organs, leaving us with a variety of symptoms including acid reflux, bladder/ bowel dysfunction, bloating, and musculoskeletal pain that we wouldn’t commonly attribute to viscera. When not massaging, Roxanne enjoys hiking with her dogs, gardening, and time with her family.

Ashley Piderman, R. Ac. Vero Health is pleased to welcome Ashley to our team as a licensed acupuncturist. A graduate of the Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences in Nelson, BC, Ashley completed her degree as class valedictorian and brings to the Okanagan a passionate interest in helping patients with Traditional Chinese Medicine. With a special interest in digestive issues, autoimmune illness, mental/emotional issues as well as pain management, she is excited about establishing herself in the community and working with patients at Vero Health. Covered by many extended health plans, acupuncture can play a major role in helping people with both acute and chronic health concerns. In her down time, Ashley can be found curled up with a good book, drawing, playing guitar and going to comic book conventions and blogging about her adventures!
