Birthday Bard Where else but in Canada can you celebrate a Scottish holiday at a German restaurant? Little Bavaria is hosting the 31st Annual Robbie Burns Supper on Jan. 25. From 5:30-10 p.m. Tix: $30. There will be Highland dances, toasts and a piping in of the haggis, which will be served with roast beef and mashed potatoes later. A special Robbie Burns celebrations is also being held at the Westwind Pub. Start time: 7 p.m.

Three Games The Alberni Valley Bulldogs are playing three games in three nights so they’ll need your support. On Friday, the Bulldogs play in Nanaimo against the Clippers. On Saturday, Kelowna is playing at the Multiplex. And on Sunday, Powell River is at the Multiplex (game time 1:30 p.m.) for a matinee. Let’s watch the Bulldogs clip Nanaimo, launch the Rockets and give’er against the River.

COASTAL LOG SCALING Certificate Program

If you have children age 3-5 Parks and Recreation has a couple of nifty programs for you. ‘I Can Dance’ is held on Fridays at the Gyro Youth Centre starting Jan 23 from 3:15-4 p.m. Cost: $35. Also, ‘Musical Kids’ introduces kids to rhythm, melody and musical instruments. The course is at Echo Centre in the Dogwood Room on Thursday nights. Cost: $52.

Learn the skills needed for the Ministry of Forests’ Coastal Log Scaling examination. Gain hands-on experience in the field with training on the log sort. Prepare for log scaling positions in all aspects of the forestry industry including government and private forestry companies.
