Youth and senior mini golf 25 seniors and six youth take part in Paradise Adventure Mini Golf tournament Brenda GouGh NEWS Contributor

There were some amazing bank shots on the Astro-turf Tuesday in a tournament that attracted golfers of all ages. Twenty-five seniors and six youngsters participated in the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) youth and senior Mini Golf Tournament September 17 at Paradise Adventure Mini Golf in Parksville. It is the fourth year the free event has been held as a way to bridge the gap between youth and seniors in the community, according to the RDN. Golfers not only had fun playing on the two, 18-hole courses they also enjoyed meeting new people. Jeannie Hammett of Parksville said she and her husband Mike took part in the event last year and had a great time so this year they came back and brought their neighbours. “We met some wonderful kids last year and again this year,” she said. The Hammetts were paired up with Shelagh Lamperson and her son Graeme. RDN Recreation Programmer Kelly Valade said there will be more events for seniors taking place in Parksville and Qualicum Beach during Active Aging Week Sept. 22-28. For details visit www. rdn.bc.ca/recreation.
