REEVES, Ella Jane Rebertha Our mother Ella Reeves passed away early Sunday morning June 9th, peacefully in her sleep at Cascades Lodge. Ella was a resident of Chilliwack since 1958. She was born September 17, 1930 at her family farm in near Alameda Saskatchewan. Ella was predeceased by her parents, Marshall and Lillian Watson, as well as her husband Jack Reeves. She is survived by her daughter Barbara {Ross} Candow, her son Richard, Brenda Fredrick and Katherine Bruce. She is also survived by her three grandaughters she so adored, Natalie (Curtis) Milman, Hayley and Sydney Candow. Her sisters May (Wilbur) Hume of Carlyle Sask, and Norma Workman of Oxbow Sask, along with many nieces and nephews. During the many years she resided in Chilliwack, she enjoyed her leisure time involved in clubs and volunteering. She was an avid bridge player, was very well read and had the opportunity to travel to many places in Canada, the USA as well as abroad. For many winters she resided in Arizona and in the summers spent her time at her cabin at Lindell Beach. She was a long time member of the PEO Sisterhood, an organization she held close to her heart. For many years Ella volunteered at the United Church thrift store, which was an outing she really enjoyed with the other volunteers. A few things to share about Ella are that at birth she only weigh 2.5 lbs, and had to be fed by an eyedropper. She loved hockey and was quite proud of the fact she still had an original copy of the first ever edition of the Hockey News. It was disappointing to her the Canucks had never won the Stanley Cup. However she had the opportunity to experience a game of her second favorite team at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto just before the Leafs moved to their new rink. Ella had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed antiquing with our dad Jack for many years. She could always find a reason to go out and enjoy a meal at a restaurant. Mom usually had words of wisdom on most subjects. In the late 1960’s Ella returned to school to obtain her Bachelor of Education from UBC. We would like to thank the staff at Cascades Lodge in making her final days comfortable during her short stay there. Previous to that she resided at Hampton House, and would like the thank the compassionate Community Health care workers from Fraser Cheam Home support for all there special care they gave our mother over the past three years. We would be there many times while they were making their visits to mom and it always felt to us that it was like a friend coming to see mom in the ways they conversed, they were such an important aspect of her life. There will be a memorial open house for Ella on Saturday June 15th, 2013 from 1pm to 4pm at the Reeves cabin located at 1754 Lindell Ave, Lindell Beach, (Cultus Lk). In lieu of flowers, a donation to her favorite organization can be forwarded to “Chapter BC P.E.O. Sisterhood” attn Pat Elliot, 77B-45918 Knight Rd, Chilliwack, B.C. V2R 3X4. Rest in Peace Mom xoxo.
