Skater Stewart golden in Germany

Chilliwack’s Corrine Stewart brought home two medals from the 2013 International Skating Union Adult Competition, held May 14-18 in Oberstdorf, Germany. Stewart was a gold medalist in the silver ladies artistic III group, and the 57-year-old scored silver in the silver ladies free skate III group. Collectively, Stewart and her Team Canada colleagues won 25 medals (12 gold, seven silver and six bronze). The competition attracted more than 400 skaters, a record number of entrants, between the ages of 28-78. Twenty-three countries were represented. Get more at adultskating.org

Chilliwack FC’s gold rep U-15 boys soccer squad claimed top spot at the 35th annual Slurpee Cup tournament, held in Kamloops on the May long weekend. Chilliwack started off with back-to-back shutouts of Terrace (2-0) and Quesnel (7-0). They were blanked 2-0 by the CCB Surrey Steelers in their third game, but turned the tables in the championship, dominating the game and beating the Steelers 2-0.
