Haig-Brown Heritage House celebrates history on the riverbank Haig-Brown Heritage House was built in 1923 and was the home of Roderick Haig-Brown, an avid fly-fisher, pioneering conservationist, acclaimed author and magistrate. Today, on the banks of the Campbell River, it is a shrine for fly fishers and a tranquil trip down memory lane for the rest of us. This historic family home was where HaigBrown put pen to paper and influenced fisheries biologists, ecologists and countless others interested in the evolving relationship between people and nature. In winter, the House provides temporary accommodation for a Writer In Residence, through a program operated by the Campbell River Museum. During the summer months, the Haig-Brown House offers unique bed and breakfast accommodation featuring three bedrooms for up to seven guests. The murmur of the river can be heard from the rooms overlooking the peaceful grounds. Inside the former family home, thousands of books line the walls of the study in which many of the writer’s famous works were penned. The beautiful gardens and grounds are available on a rental basis for weddings, receptions or photograph sessions. Guests can even sip tea and play croquet.
