BESHIR Etimad
“And remember the truth that once was spoken, to love another person is to see the face of BESHIR God.” Etimad who was a senior citizen of Chilliwack since 1996 has passed away at CGH. She was born in Egypt and lived there till 1990 when she immigrated to Canada. Etimad’s adult children are Bothaina, Mounir, Laila and Magdi Moussa. Her grandchildren are Shadi, Ano, Dia, Homa, Salma, Monir and Tony. Etimad will be remembered forever by her family and all the friends that she dearly loved during her life in Egypt and Canada. BREUKELMAN Kornelia Roelfina (Corry)
nee Dykstra At His appointed time, God took to His eternal glory our dearest mom, oma and great oma on Saturday April 6, 2013 at the age of 76 years. Mom was born February 21, 1937, in Schiedam, the Netherlands. She immigrated to Taber, Alberta in 1956, married Gerrit (Jerry) Breukelman; had four sons, Harry, John, Ken and Ed. They moved to Chilliwack, BC in 1967 and has since resided here. She was a stay at home mom who loved to read, knit and crochet. She was always content, happy and laughed a lot. Mom is lovingly remembered by Harry Breukelman and Dorothy Breukelman; Derek and Miranda; Chris and Michelle - Tyler; Greg and Alishia, all of Ontario; John and Florine Breukelman, Shawn and Zwanette Vandergaag, Aaron, Koraziah and Jaxon; Gerard and Jordan; Ken Breukelman and Ed Breukelman, all of Chilliwack and Abbotsford; and many in-law relatives in the Netherlands, Ontario, Alberta and BC. Mom was predeceased by dad in September 2004; 2 younger sisters; her parents, Roelf and Zwaantje Dykstra and brother Roel Dykstra. A memorial service was held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Canadian Reformed Church, Chilliwack the Rev. A. Pol officiating. Interment was at the Vedder View Gardens Cemetary. Pallbearers were: John, Ken, Ed, Gerard, Jordan and Shawn. Honorary pallbearers were: Harry, Dereck, Chris, Greg, and Herman Kobes. The family sincerely thanks all those who, in one way or another, supported mom especially in the last few years when her health was failing her. To the wonderful Dr. P.

CAILING Donna Marie
Passed away on April 21, 2013 at Abbotsford Hospital at the age of 51. She was born to Cisco CAILING Rabang and Rose Silas on December 19, 1961 in Seattle, Washington. She will be loving remembered by her husband, Zack Cailing, her children, Keith and Carol Cailing and her stepchildren, Zachary and Benny Cailing. She is also survived by her parents Francisco and Rose, Billie Rabang (stepmother) Benny and Arline Cailing (In laws), sisters, Gina Rabang, Tila Silvas, Elena Silvas, Stephanie Davenport. Her brothers Francisco, Domingo and James Rabang and her grandchildren Nevaeh, Zachary, Anacita Cailing, Jordan and Ramona Whitewater. She was predeceased by her grandmother Libby Rabang. Viewing will be held on Wednesday April 24, 2013 at 7:00pm at the Squiala First Nations Hall. A funeral will be held on Thursday April, 25, 2013 at 10:00am at the “Squiala First Nations Hall” 45005 Squiala Road, Burial to follow service and Reception to follow after the burial. CHANIG Irene Helen
nee Varga Mom passed away April 18, 2013 in Chilliwack. She was born in Halmeu, Romania August 126, 1926. She came to Canada as a child with her family in 1929, moving to southern Saskatchewan. There she met and married Dad. In 1947 they moved to the lower mainland where they raised five sons. .Mom loved to travel, garden, knit, crochet and many other hobbies. She was predeceased by her husband Jim in October 1982. In her wisdom she left a poem to all her loved ones. Thanks Mom “When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom filled room why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little but not too long and not with your head bowed low

FRAIL John Allen
John Allen Frail (90) passed away on April 17th 2013 at Heritage Village, Chilliwack, FRAIL B.C. John was born in Centreville, Kings County, N.S. to Wallace and Mabel Frail. He grew up on the family farm, graduated from high school and moved to Halifax to work. John volunteered for Military service in 1942 and was a Master Gunner with the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps. He served until 1968, achieving the rank of Major. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Carleton University, while working full time. John worked for the Federal Government in several departments, including the Treasury Board for a total of 15 years. Before finally retiring ten years later, he became a successful real estate agent and broker in Ottawa. For the following decade, they enjoyed spending winters in Largo, Florida, John married Elizabeth May (Betty) Spry in 1947. They lived in Montreal and Kentville, Nova Scotia before being posted to Ottawa. They moved to Chilliwack, B.C. to be nearer to family in the west ten years ago. John was a founding member of the Pleasant Park Baptist Church in Ottawa. He served his community as a member of Rotary in both Ottawa and Chilliwack. John had many interests including painting, gardening and carpentry. He was a very good friend and neighbour and was respected by all who knew him. He was the eldest of eight children, and was predeceased by his sister Mary, and brothers Ronald and Robert. He is survived by the love of his life, Elizabeth Frail of Chilliwack, B.C. and children; Ken (Janice) Richmond, B.C., Diane (Ken Kousaie) Chilliwack, B.C., Gary (Danielle) Dartmouth, N.S., James (Elizabeth) Calgary, AB ,grandchildren ; Brandon and Courtney, Katherine , Mark , Patricia , and Valerie, Jennifer and John and great grandchildren; Matthew, Odin, Torger and Olivia. The Frail family thanks the Staff of Heritage Village for their attentive care over the past four years. A small family service will be held at Heritage Village with burial at a later date in Lakeville Cemetery in Nova Scotia. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society or a Food Bank would be much appreciated.
GILLIARD Gaston Charles
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gaston Gilliard of 87 years on GILLIARD April 21, 2013 in Chilliwack, BC. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. Gaston was born in Prudhomme, Saskatchewan where he lived and farmed with his family. Gaston was an entrepreneur of many trades. He was a firm believer in “If there’s a Will there’s a Way”; he was a great improviser. As someone once said you can tell he was a hardworking man by the size of his hands. Gaston will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Loretta Gilliard and his son’s and spouse’s, Edward (Lynn) Gilliard, Maurice (Karen) Gilliard, Philip (Lisa) Gilliard and Gordon (Susan) Gilliard and his daughter’s and spouse’s Yvonne (Lea) Mack, Jean (Jim) Velyan, Elaine (Neil) MacPhail, Peggy (Garry) Corbett, Colette (Alain) Epp and step daughter Lynn (Jack) Metcalfe; 23 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was sadly predeceased by his son Charles Gilliard, parents Emil and Hortense Gilliard and his 9 siblings. Many thanks to Dr. Cameron Ross for his care and compassion as well as the nurses and care aides on the 4th Floor South at the Chilliwack Hospital. KLASSEN Evelina
April 13, 1918-April 11, 2013 Evelina was born in Podolsk, Russia. At the age of 8, together with her family, she moved KLASSEN to Provost, Alberta and later to Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan. She married John Klassen May 2, 1937 and shortly after they moved to Chilliwack, British Columbia. Mom and Dad farmed on Blackburn Road, Lickman Road and McGuire Road before retiring in town. Dad struggled with health issues for many years and Mom spent her love and energy tak-
ing care of him. The high cost of medical care made it necessary for her to work outside the home and she spent many years working first at York Farms and later Fraser Valley Frosted Foods. Her retirement years were spent knitting, crocheting, baking and cooking for her family. Mom will be missed by her family: Daughters Dorothy (Ben) Baerg and Velma (Frank) Ens; 6 Grandchildren; 18 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandsons and many other family members and friends. Her services were held Tuesday, April 16, 2013. LAVALLEE Schyler Grace
Schyler Grace Lavallee went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2013. She was born on March LAVALLEE 29, 2013 at 8:20 PM at seven pounds nine ounces in Chilliwack BC. She was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia and a congenital heart defect and quickly moved to BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver where she spent the next twenty three days valiantly fighting for her life. The doctors were amazed at her strength, and how hard she battled against so many difficulties. In such a short time this beautiful angel inspired and touched many lives, and although she is in a better place she will be dearly missed. She is survived by loving parents Regan and Leah Lavallee. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday April 29, 2013 at 2:00pm at the Chilliwack Alliance Church, 8700 Young Rd. McGREGOR NELSON Donald Monica Mary nee Powell Webster With sad-
McGregor, Donald Webster, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14th 2013, at the McGREGOR age of 91 years, with his wife Emma (Margie) by his side at Valleyhaven Retirement Community in Chilliwack. Don was born on June 5, 1921 at the family farmhouse near Hanley, Saskatchewan. He is survived by his wife Margie, daughters Rita McGregor, Evelyn McGregor, Fay (Rudy) Derksen and son Donald (Helen) McGregor, as well as his seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by step daughters Pauline (Cliff) Harper and Jacqueline (Robert Donofrio) Hatcher, five step grandchildren, six step great grandchildren and two step great great grandchildren. In 1940 Don enlisted in the Canadian Army and served with the Military Engineers, attached to the Lord Stratcona’s Horse primarily in Tank Recovery and Repair, through North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium and Holland. He met and married Corrie, the mother of his children, in Rotterdam in 1945. After returning to Canada the couple moved to BC and lived in Quesnel, Prince George and then to Chilliwack in 1956. Throughout these years Don worked as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic in the mining, forestry, and construction sectors, opening up and developing the Province of B.C. After divorcing Don met and married Margie, his Buddy, together they spent many happy years travelling for hunting and fishing trips and visiting family as well as going abroad to Hawaii, an Alaskan cruise, Eastern Canada, Italy, England and Scotland. Don was involved in the community through the Royal Canadian Legion, Elks, Chilliwack Curling Club and as a 45 year founding member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans, Chilliwack Unit # 305. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 27th at 10:00 am at Henderson’s Funeral Home in Chillwack, 45901 Victoria Avenue. A reception will follow at the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Unit #305, 46268 Yale Rd, Chilliwack. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the charity of your choice in memory of Don would be appreciated. The family would like to thank Dr. W.E. dened hearts we say “Farewell to A Legend” affectionately known as Monica Mary NELSON Nelson (nee Powell), the lady who loved to wear red, graciously retired to her bed on April 9, 2013 in Chilliwack. She was 90 yearsyoung, born on October 14, 1922 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Lyman and Eva Powell and was the favourite sister to three brothers; Doug, Bruce and Howard Powell. “Mon” completed nurse’s training at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg and worked in Stonewall, Gladstone Hospital and various nursing homes. She experienced two husbands (not at the same time) with the second marriage to Norman Nelson lasting almost 30 years. After leaving Winnipeg in the early 1970’s, Monica lived in North Vancouver and Chilliwack. She spent at least 70 years of her life teaching the Bible as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses engaging anyone she would meet in lively conversations as she always took a genuine interest in people and was a great story teller, history buff, a real colorful character with a witty sense of humor. Her passions and interests included shopping, collecting coins, jewelry and coupons, sleeping in until noon, watching television, taking vitamins, and always enjoyed a good pork roast. Although she bore no children, she will be remembered fondly as a very popular Auntie and Great Auntie. Monica is survived by her estranged husband Norman Nelson of Woodlands, Manitoba, sister-in-law Daphne Powell of Chilliwack, niece Kim Powell of Montreal, nephews: Douglas Powell of Chilliwack, Randy Powell (Cindy) of Agassiz, Jonathan Powell (Krista, Keagan & Hannah) of Port Moody, Cameron Powell (Petra, Sophie & Sam) of Prague, Czek Republic and sister-in-law Marge Powell of Mississauga, her 2 sons and 2 daughters. Monica is ironically predeceased by all her brothers Bruce, Doug & Howard. Monica’s family would like to take this opportunity to thank the nursing staff of the Chilliwack General Hospital (5th Floor), all the Home Care workers who so lovingly cared for Monica over the past year and above all her spiritual family who displayed such self-sacrificing spirit in many ways, cooking, cleaning and visiting her reflecting a true brotherhood and who she will look forward to seeing again in Paradise on Earth.
