Bulcock finishes in first place all around in the Provincial 3 Tyro

THE KLO MIDDLE SCHOOL boys celebrate the Grade 8 city volleyball championship last week. The KLO team defeated the OKM Huskies in the final.

Okanagan Gymnastics Centre athletes turned in some positive results recently at a pair of gymnastics competitions held in Surrey and Coquitlam. In Surrey, Vanessa Bulcock finished with a first place all around in the Provincial 3 Tyro category. Bulcock also earned a gold medal on the vault and floor exercise. She a won the gold all around at a competition in February where she took home a gold medal on balance beam and a silver medal on the vault at the Coquitlam competition. In the Pre-Novice category, Ellen Smith earned a bronze medal on the floor exercise Surrey following a silver medal on

floor exercise at the competition in February. In the Men’s competition, Kolten Marino finished with a silver medal on the floor exercise at the second of four trials to Canadian Championships. Other results from the Coquitlam competition in February: • In the Pre-Novice category Lucia Jakab finished with a bronze medal on the floor exercise in Coquitlam. • Madison Nethercote competed in the Provincial 2 Novice category and took home a bronze medal on the vault and a silver medal on the balance beam. • Braelyn Dillon took home three bronze medals in the Provincial 3 Tyro

category for her efforts on the vault, floor exercise, and in the all around. • In the Provincial 4 Novice category, Brooke Murray earned a first place finish on the vault, while Bryn Walsh finished in second place. Grace Fecht earned a bronze on the balance beam also in this category. • In the Provincial 5 Tyro category, Jenna Mick earned a first place finish on floor exercise, a second place finihsh on uneven bars and in the all around and took home bronze medals on the vault and balance beam. • Hannah Butcher finished in second place on vault and balance beam and third place on uneven bars in the Provincial 5 Novice category.

Telemark racers log good times Telemark from A18

Hawes raced on an unofficial team with skiers from the Sovereign Lake Nordic club placing 22nd. In the girls race the team of Kennedy Dickie, Sally Haaheim, Michelle Kraetzer and Abigail Ertel placed eighth in a very tight race. Sophie LaChappelle was able to race on an unofficial team skiing the fourth fastest time on her lap. Sunday’s races started with a sprint qualifier to determine the starting position for sprint heat.

TELEMARK’S RESULTS:

In the 2003 boys race Ian Mayer was sixth and Erik Haaheim was 14th. In the 2002 girls race Sophie LaChappelle placed eighth. In the 2002 boys race Grayson McKinnon placed fourth, Tristan Lee ninth, and Connor Hobbs 20th. In the 2001 girls Sally Haaheim was 14th, Michelle Kraetzer 17th, Kennedy Dickie 18th, Abigail Ertel 22nd. In the 2001 boys race, Cameron McInnes was eighth. In the 2000 boys’ category Ian Williams was third, Matt Shipley was eighth, and Scott McKinnon was 12th.
