She started working at an early age and one of her Àrst Mobs was a housekeeper for the Spiers family. After marrying William (Bill) Wocknitz and living in various communities in BC, they returned to Creston upon Bill’s retirement as a business representative with the Operating Engineers. Violet was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents John and Margaret Parkin (Creston Pioneers), as well as all her brothers and sisters. She leaves to grieve her passing one son Ken (Patsy) Wocknitz of Fraser Lake BC, as well as three beloved grandchildren, Catie, Steven and Jordan. Numerous nieces, grand nieces, and great-grand nieces and nephews, grand nephews and great-grand nephews and their families on both the Wocknitz and Parkin sides will also miss her. Violet was a dedicated caregiver and homemaker. She looked after her siblings’ children as three sisters were conÀned to a sanatorium at various times. Her niece Martha and husband Bill Marken were close friends as well as Robert and Verna (Bill’s sister) Fleck (all deceased) and their families. She had many friends in and around Creston; two of her dearest friends were Vona Anderson and Eileen Jesson. Auntie Violet had a subtle but wicked sense of humor and she kept us light and taught us not to take ourselves too seriously. We will remember the Moy and laughter she brought to our lives. She died as she lived, quietly and peacefully, at North Okanagan Hospice House in Vernon surrounded by loving family with the tender care of hospice personnel. Interment will take place in Erickson, BC at Forest Lawn Cemetery in the spring of 2013.
