SCOTT, Carmen Marie (nee Silva) August 27, 1944 – September 27, 2012 A much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Carmen Scott, 68 passed away on September 27, 2012. Carmen, the daughter of the late Manuel Machado da Silva and the late Marie Gilda Machado, was born in Faja de Cima, San Miguel, Azores, Portugal, on August 27, 1944. Carmen immigrated from Portugal to Canada with her parents & siblings in 1958. Carmen was a phenomenal woman; the pillar of a large Portuguese family. She passed on & instilled her Portuguese cultural values and traditions to her family and friends. To all who knew her, she was an amazing lady. She was remarkably creative and talented in everything she did. Carmen earned her degree in Fashion Design in 1971. She had an extraordinary talent for hosting and entertaining; the best cook ever. Her true passion was her family; both blood and spiritual. Carmen was a dedicated wife and mother who had great joy through the simple pleasure of spending time with her family. Her favorite memories are the many family gatherings over the years. She was a strong woman with a cheerful disposition. Her great sense of humor with the ability to laugh at herself, and her contagious laugh will be greatly missed. She kept us all entertained right to the end. Survived by her devoted husband, Carl, of 32 years and her children Mike (Ronette), Sandy (Greg Papas) and Gloria (Shane Thornley); grandchildren Ryan (Heidi), Miles, Steven and Carson; great-grandchild Hayden; siblings Joe (Carol Dion), Angel Aguiar, Manuel (Tony), Laura (Fernando Corvello), Gilda Machado, Connie (Allan Johnston) and Suzanna (Mike Demelo); and many nieces and nephews. Her family would like to thank the staff at Cowichan District Hospital for treating her with kindness, dignity and care in her final days. A memorial service will be held on Oct. 6 at 2:00 at the Mill Bay Kingdom Hall located at 1355 Ball Rd., Cobble Hill, BC, followed by a Celebration of Life gathering at Arbutus Ridge at 3:30. MOORE, Audie Robert July 21, 1953 - Sept. 15, 2012

It is with the most utmost sadness we announce the tragic death of our Audie. The man we thought could never die, left this earth forever on Sept 15 2012. Audie was filled with a zest for life and a positive energy that inspired everyone he knew. He leaves behind him his loving wife of 40 years, Arlone, his sons Jarrod (Saramarie) and Justin (Anna). Also left to mourn are his parents Bob and Joan Moore, sister Wendy (Dennis) Dingler, nephew Bradley (Mary) great niece Kaitlyn, niece Angie, brother Dean Moore and many aunts, uncles & cousins. Audie's family through marriage are his sister-in-law Linda (Tom) Hearsey, Darrell (Monique) Posehn and Tammy (Dwayne) Crosson. Also numerous nieces & nephews that will always remember their Uncle Audie as a bear of a man, with big hugs. Audie's life was all about working and providing for his family. He was a multi-talented man and nothing was ever too big of a challenge. He had an amazing mind from running a construction site to the many huge marine projects he designed and constructed, to the 3 beautiful homes he built for his family, all, for which he felt a great sense of pride and accomplishment. Thank you to everyone who has sent their heartfelt sympathies. Audie will live on in our hearts and our memories forever. A private celebration of life, for family only, will be held at a later date.

KOSIANCE - Bruce Allen It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our brother Bruce at his home on September 25, 2012. Born in Chemainus, BC on December 13, 1957. Predeceased by his parents Ada and Joe Kosiance. Lovingly remembered by his family; siblings Dianne (Bernie) Wylie, Brad (Anna) Kosiance and half sister Sally (Roger) Hart; as well as an aunt, uncle , numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. H.W. Wallace 251 Jubilee St. 250-701-0001 WILLIAMS, Teressa Lynn Oct. 31, 1952- Oct. 1, 2012 Born in Victoria, BC, schooled in Victoria and Coombs. Teressa returned to school at Malaspina College in 1986 to become a Licensed Practical Nurse, working at Cairnsmore Place Extended Care until she became ill in 2010. Teressa is survived by Brian her husband of 34 years. Three Children Loretta, Darla, and Sandra, two stepchildren Donna and Alan, as well as 14 grandchildren. Teressa loved to travel with Brian in their motor home and her favourite past time was her passion for crocheting. Graveside service will be held at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, 2347 Cedar Road. 11:00, Saturday October 6th, 2012. Memorial Tea to follow 12:00, 5113 Grouhel Road, Ladysmith, BC. Family and friends welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, on Teressa's behalf.

SOUTHALL, James Erick passed away on September 28th after health complications at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. Jim was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on April 13th, 1925. Predeceased by his parents, six siblings, his first wife Norma and his son Brad; he is survived by his wife Brenda, sons Barry (Karen), Craig (Shirley), Step daughter Patricia (Doug), and step sons Bill, Don and Gord; Grandchildren Zoe, Dan, Megan, Eric, Duncan, Norma, Dorothy and Corrie and Great grandchildren Kayla, Sienna and Rylann. Jim was a long time loyal member and past president of the Duncan Legion Branch #53. After meeting Norma in school while in Winnipeg he served in the Royal Navy in Halifax, then returned to Winnipeg where he worked for the CPR Railway. Jim then followed Norma and her family to Victoria where they married in 1946 and had their three boys. Jim worked on the docks in Victoria, for T. Eaton Company, and then the B.C. Liquor Control Board in Victoria and Duncan for 35 years, until retirement. After Norma passed away, Jim met and married Brenda McLeod in 1985. The two spent 27 years living in Duncan. Jim loved music and dancing, enjoyed performing, and had a great sense of humour and he filled his days with his love of building bird houses and oil painting. He enjoyed a long life and will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family. The family would like to extend a warm thank you to the ER staff at the Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan and to the ICU staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria for all of their care and compassion during his final days. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 5800 Church Road, Duncan, BC on Saturday October 13th 2012 at 12:00.

PARENT, Patricia Anne Patricia Anne Parent (Trish) was born May 10, 1956 in Calgary Alberta to Ernest and Mona McDuff. After a lengthy battle with Cancer, Trish passed away suddenly on Sept 16, 2012 in her home. She is predeceased by her husband Ken, brother Richard, and her father Ernest. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and extended family, but especially by her children, Stephen (Tammy), Amanda, Matthew, her grandchildren Jordan, Joseph, Shawnae, Cheryl-Anne, Alissa, Dakota, Grace and Brady, her sister Debbie, and her brother Danny. Trish was active for many years within the Métis community, serving as an Employment Counselor and Program Coordinator for the Vancouver Island Regional Métis Management Association and the Métis Nation British Columbia. She spent much of her spare time working with Métis people to promote and preserve the Métis culture, both volunteering and sitting on the Board of Directors for the Red River West Métis Cultural Association. For several years she was part of the Special Woodstock Society helping people with specials needs to express themselves through music on-stage at an annual outdoors celebration. Trish was a person who always had time for a friend whether it was an ear to listen, a helping hand, or some sound advice. She was a strong, independent, caring person who touched the lives of everyone she met and her beautiful smile will be sorely missed. A Celebration of her life will be held Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 1pm at the Eagle's Hall, 2965 Jacob St, Duncan BC.
