Natasha passed away peacefully at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and will be dearly missed by her son Randy, grandchildren Emma and Dylan by her siblings Henry, Anne, Liz, Jake, Martha, Ben and Irene and by in-laws, extended family and countless friends and neighbors. Natasha’s warm smile, sense of humor and ability to connect with others saw her easily develop friendships and put others at ease. Natasha will be missed by many, but will also be warmly remembered by all those fortunate to have shared her presence. A memorial/celebration of life will be held to honor Natasha at Clearbrook MB Church on Friday Sept. 14th at 11:00 am with refreshments to follow. Mrs. Sara Friesen late of Abbotsford, BC, daughter of the late Peter and Justina Dueck of Steinbach, MB, passed away on September 3, 2012 at the age of 90 at Worthington Pavilion. She is survived by: her sons Ron Friesen, Gary (Laura) Friesen, Walter (Carmen) Friesen, and daughter Johanna (Ernie) Trachuk, 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, brothers: Walter (Nettie), Frank (Sara), Arnold (Vera), John, Ernest (Lorraine), Del (Eilleen), sisters Mary Unger, Betty (Dave) Penner, sister-in-law Maria and brother-in-law Elmer Bartel. She was predeceased by her first husband Abe Friesen, her second husband Anton Friesen, an infant son and her siblings Ben, Martin, Peter, Henry, and Ann. Sara had a strong Christian belief and prayed faithfully for her family. Though Sara was quiet by nature, she enjoyed socializing with friends and getting together with family. Family gatherings were very important to her. Quilting was a hobby she enjoyed after retiring from nursing; and puzzling and word games were favourite pastimes throughout her lifetime. A Viewing will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Henderson’s Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, BC. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Henderson’s Funeral Home. HARPER Sarah Sarah “Sadie” Harper, late of Mission, BC, passed away on September 4, 2012 at the age of 76 years at Abbotsford Regional Hospital, after a brief battle with cancer. Survived by her loving husband, Derek; her sons, Paul (Wendy), Mark (Myra), and Sean; her daughters, Michele DeFehr and Lisa McLeod (Mark); her grandchildren, David and Joshua Harper, Mika and Kai Harper, Brittany, Kayla and Lindsay DeFehr, Alexander Hall and Rowan McLeod. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Greg DeFehr. Sarah was born in Liverpool, England. She trained as a registered nurse and midwife in Boston, Plymouth and Oxford, England. She moved to Canada in 1965 with her family and was dedicated to her work as Head Nurse of the maternity unit at MSA Hospital for many years. Many thanks to the nursing staff on Baker 2 at ARH for their wonderful nursing care, and also to Drs Egolf, Chow and Walia. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 11:00 am, at Sts. Joachim & Ann Church, 2827273 St., Aldergrove, BC, followed by tea at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at the Gardens of Gethsemani, 15800-32 Ave., Surrey, BC. Donations may be made to BC Cancer Agency in lieu of flowers. Richard (Rick) Edward Lowe passed away on August 29, 2012 in Abbotsford Regional Hospital at the age of 65. Rick was born in Regina, SK on September 18, 1946. Rick leaves behind his wife Valerie, daughter Amber (Stefan Kirsch), son Jodi (Rebecca) and 5 grandchildren Hanna & Paul Kirsch and Isabella, Ruby & Zen Ortega-Lowe, brother Bob (Sharon), numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Rick was predeceased by his father John and mother Helen. Rick will be missed by family and friends.
THOM David David John Thom was born in Edam (Sask) on May 7, 1943. He died at the Abbotsford Hospital (BC) on September 4, 2012. Dave was predeceased by his parents Gordie and Mackey Thom. He is survived by his wife Pat and his two sons Aron (Shannon) and Brian (Karen) and their two sons Elwyn and Alden. He is also survived by Pat’s sister and six brothers and their families. Dave spent his working life as an X-Ray Technician - for 15 years in Saskatoon, and then for 20 years at the Mission Memorial Hospital. He also liked to build and fix things with all of his tools. Dave and Pat played a lot of bridge for enjoyment and friendship. Dave left us bravely and gently and with great good humour. At Dave’s request, there will be no funeral. PEARCE Doris Doris Marie Pearce, known to her loved ones as Marie, surrounded by her family passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Royal Columbian Hospital after suffering a brain aneurism. Marie was born March 19, 1943 in Edmonton, Alberta. She spent her early years in the prairies before moving East to Ontario where she met her husband, Dave Pearce. They lovingly raised their three children. Marie made the world beautiful through the aromas and tastes of her cooking, the colour and textures of the knitting, quilts and sewing expressing her creativity. She also was a gifted musician and expressed herself through organ and piano music. Spending her later years serving her family and friends in Abbotsford and Calgary, Marie continued her vocation with grace and elegance to her very last day. An exceptional wife and companion to her husband Dave, a loving and generous mother to her two sons Jeff and Steve (Tina) and her daughter Donita (Leroy). She was also a most affectionate and reliable grandmother to her 8 grandchildren Jake, Joel, Lise, Maggie, Alma, Ethan, Libby and Joey. She is survived by and will be missed by a large extended family. Marie Pearce was the perfect example of a godly wife, mother, grandmother and friend and we’re thankful to God for the way she shared her life with the many who knew her. Silver, Imelda “Millie” Theresa (nee: Phillips) Millie Silver lost her battle to cancer on September 3rd at Cascade Hospice at the age of 74 years. Born in Harrison Mills, BC to Nancy and William Phillips on December 8th, 1937, she spent her childhood in Chehalis and went to school in Mission. She graduated from St. Mary’s in 1957. Millie married Erich Schmidbauer in 1959 and was blessed with 5 children. She was later married to Ray Silver in 1989. She was a strong cultural and spiritual leader in the community and gave of herself heartily to pass on traditional teachings. She leaves a strong legacy and a loving family. She is survived by her husband, Ray Silver; children Bill (Alison), Tony (Lisa), Deanna (Luke), Donna (John), Rob (Trena), Louise (Nick), Janet, Kathy, Verna (Dan), Bernice (David), Ray, Janice, Ambrose (Joan), John (Diana), Edna, Paula (Owen); 68 loving grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; and 2 brothers and 3 sisters along with their families. She was predeceased by her parents Nancy and William Phillips, 6 brothers, 1 sister, and her first husband Erich Schmidbauer.
