Rules and Regulations

1.

Prize competitions open to anyone paying entry fees and meeting rules, with the exception of Division Chairperson. 2. Specified fees to accompany completed entry forms, postmarked on or before entry deadline of August 31, 2012, to Shelley Wall, Entry Secretary, Box 277, Burns Lake, British Columbia, V0J 1E0. Late entries accepted at discretion of Entry Secretary only (phone 250-692-7825). Exhibitor passes to be purchased at time of exhibit entry. 3. Exhibits left at owner’s risk. The Fair Association is not responsible for exhibits; however, reasonable care is exercised (i.e. claim checks). 4. The Fair Association reserves the right to refuse incorrectly entered articles. 5. The judge’s decision is final. 6. Exhibitors are responsible for any personal injuries while exhibiting. 7. A “For Sale” sign may be put on any article after judging is completed and prizes awarded. 8. The Lakes District Fair Association reserves the right to substitute merchandise for cash prizes when the value exceeds five dollars. 9. An exhibit will not be identified any other way than the official entry tag. 10. An item not enumerated in the prize booklet may be entered “for exhibit only”. It is not eligible for a prize unless three like items are entered and a class is created. 11. All exhibits must be made or grown by the exhibitor and not previously entered for competition in the Fair with the exception of Divisions I, II, III and X. 12. All entries are to be entered on the official entry forms. Should the form not be long enough for all your entries, additional plain sheets may be used to list the rest of your entries. 13. Livestock and houseplants must be entered in the name of the owner. Livestock is to have been in the owner’s possession for a minimum of one month, plants for three months. 14. (a) All exhibits are to be in the Exhibit Hall and ready for display at the Eagle Creek Fair Grounds between

8:30 am - 12:00 pm on Friday, September 7, 2012. Judging will commence at 1:00 pm sharp.. 14. (b) All livestock exhibits are to be on the grounds by 8:00 am, Saturday, September 8, 2012 (Friday arrivals are encouraged – no later than 9:00 pm). Judging will commence at 10:00 am sharp. 15. (a) No exhibits are to be removed from the Exhibit Hall without prior permission from the Exhibit Hall Coordinator/designate prior to 3:00 pm Sunday, September 9, 2012. 15. (b) No livestock is to be removed from the grounds without prior permission from the Livestock Chairperson/ designate prior to 3:00 pm Sunday, September 9, 2012. 16. Adult exhibitor weekend pass fee may be included with entry fee (see entry form). 17. Exhibits are to conform to the description in the prize book (i.e. Numbers, quantity etc.). Flowers, vegetables and plants are to include the variety name or identification, such as early, or the entry will be disqualified. 18. One entry per class, per exhibitor (i.e. individual or farm) with the exception of livestock or “any other” categories or multiple flower classes are allowed as long as they do not duplicate one another and are not listed in the prize book. There shall be no more than one first, one second and one third ribbon given per class. 20. All entries are judged by the British Columbia Association of Agricultural Fairs and Exhibitions Judging Standards. 21. Basis for awarding special prizes: Points are: 3 for first, 2 for second and 1 for third. Exceptions are livestock, 4-H and individual specials. 22. Please send all entry forms AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE and before the deadline of August 31, 2012, to Shelley Wall, Box 277, Burns Lake, British Columbia, V0J 1E0 (250-692-7825). 23. Exhibitors must have claim checks to collect their exhibits. 24. Trophies and special prizes will be handed out at the fair, September 9, 2012; all other prize money will be handed out or mailed by the end of September.
