As part of her District Scholarship project, Nicole Provost wrote and produced the ¿lm “Never Ever”. At the Surrey ¿lm festival “Never Ever” won best actor, best director, best high school ¿lm and best of the festival. This is the ¿rst time Mouat has won the festival! Even more exciting is Nicole’s ¿lm will be premiered in Hollywood! Congratulations Nicole on an outstanding job!

Work Experience
ATHLETICS Track
Our track team had a great showing at the Provincial Championships. Congratulations to all of our track stars who placed in their Haliey Gibson, Francesca Jackman, Sarya Ross, Amanda Thompson, Alex Siemens, Angie Perkins, Spencer Spenst, Chris Brake, Callum Pilgrim, Aidan Bingert and Slater McCrae.
In keeping with the Mouat tradition of handing the principal something as you cross the stage, this year’s grads handed Mr. Comeau twoonies to be donated to the Make a Wish Foundation, helping make wishes come true for children who are ill. The tradition of Pranks That Make Us Proud continues! Staff and students were greeted one morning by an endless clothesline! All 28 full bags were donated to the Canadian Diabetes Association. We are very proud of our 2012 Hawk grads! As part of his District Scholarship, Mackenzie Thompson fundraised all year by selling pizza at lunch. All monies were donated to support children in Zambia affected by HIV.
Mouat Character Council
The WJM Character Council is the 2012 winner of the URoc Award. The council has successfully launched the school’s character initiative with the #wearehawks week and currently boasts over 50 members! Awesome work team!
Junior Police Academy
Thank you to the City of Abbotsford Police and school liaison of¿cer, Cst. John Davidson for sponsoring the Jr. Police Academy 2012. Congratulations to Aidan Cox-Bullen, Jabar Dhillon, James Donahue, Mitch Flann, Jason Ghag, Josh Leger, and Eric Marcu.
Fire Academy
Takoda Castonguay, Preety Dhillon, Sebastian Gibson, and Kyle Guenther were selected to the Secondary Fire Academy, now in its 14th year. Congratulations to Kyle Guenther, who received the academy’s Academic Achievement Award.
Basketball Senior Boys
Congrats to our senior boys basketball team who placed 2nd in Fraser Valley East League, 5th in Fraser Valley and Tristan Etienne was named second team AllStar. The boys were Final 8 in the BCs and placed 12th overall!

The Junior Boys basketball team had a great season placing 2nd in Abby/Mission and 4th in the Fraser Valley. Nice work boys!
Students in the Chemistry/Biology University Preparation 12 class competed in a locally run science fair competition this year and won BC Innovation Council Scholarships. Congratulations to Matt Hayashida and Denzel Kapuno for- Temperature Affects on Pancreatic Amylase and Morgan Abery and Olivia Ponte for Effect of Gender on Short-term Memory.
Micheal Smith Challenge
This year we had 5 students compete in the Michael Smith Science Challenge at UBC! Our students placed as follows: Anita dos Santos in the Top 3%, Arshdeep Ganda, Ben Klammer and Kulvir Sekhon in the Top 10% and Spencer Spence in the Top 25%!
At this year’s UFV math contest we had 4 medal winners. At the junior level, Spencer Spenst and Arshdeep Ganda won silver medals and, at the senior level, Arvid Bergen and Alex Benedict won bronze medals. Nice calculating gentlemen!

Our Boys Team placed sixth in BC. At Nationals Amrit Benning and Nishan Randhawa were named National Cadet Champions and Mickey Khehira was a National Bronze Medalist. Amrit Benning was named BC Wrestling Cadet Wrestler of Year. Coach Mitchell was recognized by Sport BC as Of¿cial of the Year. Well done wrestlers!
