Lanna Henson (nee Dase) November 11, 1955 - June 24, 2012 On the afternoon on June 24, 2012 Lanna passed away peacefully at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook at the age of 56 after a long battle with cancer. Lanna owned the Kootenay Treehouse with her husband John for 14 years and worked for Golden Life for 11 years managing the Garden View Senior Community in Kimberley until March 2010. She always enjoyed working with the seniors and staff there. Lanna was a kind, compassionate and generous lady, who always saw the best in everyone. Her courage over the last few months was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her passions were reading and her garden, with poppies and sunflowers everywhere in the summer. At Lanna's request, there will be no funeral. There will be an informal Celebration Of Life on Friday, June 29, 2012 between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook. Lanna's Thank You's I can't say how much I have appreciated all the lunches and visits from my friends over the past few months, especially my girls from Garden View. A special thank you to Dr. Pieterse for all his care and compassion - an outstanding man and doctor - and to his wonderful staff at the Tamarack Medical Centre.....Roxanne, Susan, Sheilah, Pat and Leah for being so thoughtful, and Christina from palliative care for doing more than I ever asked for. Thanks to Jennifer for always being just a phone call away whenever we needed you. To Johnny, what can I say, you always believed in me, even when I doubted myself, thank you for 20 years of adventure; it was never boring with you. Goodbye Brat. I Love You. Lanna Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service. Condolences for the family can be offered at: www.mcphersonfh.com

Diane Phyllis Steenson 1941 - 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce Diane Phyllis Steenson of Cranbrook, British Columbia passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the Kelowna General Hospital after a heart breaking battle with ARDS at 70 years of age. Diane was born on September 15, 1941 at the Kimberley District Hospital. She lived to volunteer and help others. Diane married Bill Steenson on September 22, 1962 and became an avid hockey fan of the Kimberley Dynamiters, Kimberley Knights and the Kootenay Ice. She was a billet family for the Kootenay Ice Hockey Club, took in exchange students from the College Of The Rockies and volunteered for Big Brothers and Big Sisters locally also. Diane joined citizens on patrol, was a member of the fly fishing club, had a love of animals, especially shiatsu dogs and horses. She loved to cook and made wonderful preserves. Diane also spent time catering and caring for elderly people within the community preparing Meals On Wheels and volunteering as a Welcome Wagon representative. Diane worked for the Workers Compensation Board until her retirement, and then worked for the Canadian Mental Health Association. She again retired only to take up employment as the Owner/Operator of D & B Flagging and Traffic Control. She was never a woman to sit still! Diane enjoyed cooking, volunteering, fishing and loved to travel. Diane helped others without giving it a second thought. She was a loving wife, mother and friend; a wonderful person who was always helpful and giving - doing things for others before ever thinking of herself. She never asked for a favour in return for anything she did. Diane is survived by her son Len (Dena) Steenson and sisters Ileane (Gordon) Sampert, Shirley (Bert) Hoppler. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, step-sister Isabelle, step-brother Leonard and her parents Archie and Robina. Diane, you will be sadly missed by so many. We love you! A Celebration Of Diane's Life will be held at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Kimberley Dynamiters Hockey Club, the Kimberley Dynamiters Wall Of Fame C/o Ken McTeer (Ph: 250-427-2536) or the Cominco Gardens. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the Cranbrook and Kelowna Hospitals. Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service. Condolences for the family can be offered at: www.mcphersonfh.com
