RCMP bust 1,000-plant Haskins Road grow-op BY LORNE ECKERSLEY Advance Staff
Creston RCMP took down a 1,000-plant indoor and outdoor marijuana grow-operation at a residence in the 4000 block of Haskins Road East on Saturday. A search continues for the residents, a female and her two children.
Police Beat Creston RCMP responded to 75 calls from June 11-17, Cpl. Monte Taylor said on Monday.
June 11 •A Wynndel resident reported being contacted by a cellphone service provider about someone with the same name and information attempting to register a phone in Ontario, possibly using identity theft. •After receiving a report of a female purchasing supplies typically used to produce an illegal drug, police located her and a male, who are staying in the bush near Kidd Creek Forest Service Road. Police were informed the chemicals were being used to extract gold from computer parts and denied dumping any toxic substances onto the ground or into the water. The couple also has 10 dogs. Police have notified conservation officers about their findings. •A female reported that her wallet and identification cards were missing after she gave an acquaintance a ride home. •A report was received about a June 4 afternoon hit and run in a restaurant parking lot on Highway 21. A white 2012 GMC pickup was hit and damaged by a 1996 Ford Windstar van. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the RCMP. •A male resident of Highway 3A reported that his ex-partner was driving his vehicle without insurance or a licence. •A male jogging near Hillside Street and 10th Avenue North reported being threatened with assault by another male. •Thieves broke a lock and entered a shed in

the 6100 block of Kitchener Road, making away with three Stihl chainsaws valued at $1,500. No suspects have been identified. June 12 •Thieves broke into a Northwest Boulevard business through a rear entrance, then cut through a wall to enter an office. They escaped with an unknown amount of cash and possibly some electronic equipment. •A vehicle backed into another in a drive-through at a business on Helen Street. •A male was reported to be driving his bicycle erratically in the 800 block of Canyon Street, possibly under the influence of drugs. Police were told he drove into a parked vehicle. When located, the male said he became angry because he dropped a bag of groceries and pushed his bike into a barricade, not a vehicle, causing damage to his means of transportation. •Police continue to investigate after a domestic argument in the 1500 block of Canyon Street. The male was reported to have broken items in the house, then smashing the windshield of the female’s vehicle. •A break-in through a bedroom window of a residence in the 5600 block of Corey Road netted thieves some prescription drugs. •Police received a complaint about speeding drivers and cyclists without helmets on 10th Avenue North, where the speed limit is 30 km/h. •A female school student reported that she might have been stalked by a male as she went to her home on Valleyview Drive. •A female who was moving out of her parents’ home on CanyonLister Road reported that she wasn’t being allowed to take her possessions. •A female who is believed to have over-dosed on drugs was taken from Cook Street to the hospital by ambulance. •When police responded to a call from Simon Road about a domestic dispute, then eventually found the male victim in the hospital, where he refused to co-operate with the investigation, which is continuing.
•Police dispersed the participants in a noisy party on Cook Street. June 13 •One of the Cook Street partiers was later stopped in her vehicle and found to have been consuming alcohol. She failed an impaired driving test and now faces charges. •A vehicle backed into another in a parking lot in the 800 block of Canyon Street. •A cellphone that was found in Millennium Park can be claimed by its owner at the police station. June 14 •A dentist called to report that a health plan cheque meant to pay him for work on some children was cashed by a parent and he hasn’t been reimbursed. •Thieves took six five-gallon jerry cans of gas when they broke into a shed in the 6100 block of Kitchener Road. •An intoxicated male in the 800 block of Highway 21 was arrested and held in police cells until sober. June 15 •A Jeep left unlocked with the keys in it in the 1600 block of First Avenue was stolen and later located, with extensive damage, in the gravel pit on Peterman Road. •When police located a male reported to be walking on Highway 3 near French Slough Bridge “in distress”, he reported that he had been drinking the night before and was walking home to Revelstoke. •Mailboxes were damaged and mail was stolen on Corn Creek Road. •A theft from a vehicle in the 2000 block of Smith Road in West Creston netted thieves an in-dash stereo and Bluetooth earpiece. •A hit and run in a Cook Street parking lot on June 13 is under investigation. •Two mountain bikes were found in the 3200 block of Riverview Road. •A female who was confronted by eight teenage males in a Cook Street parking lot refused to pay the $300 they demanded for damage to a skateboard.
