Time to start preparations for fair The cost is $60, and registration deadline is July 12.

BRIDGE LAKE/ INTERLAKES DIANA FORSTER 250-593-2155

Bridge Lake Fair entry booklets are available at all local general stores, and in 100 Mile House, at the Farmers’ Market, the Williams Lake and District Credit Union and Donex Pharmacy & Department Store, or by calling 250- 5934354. The container contest this year is for plant(s) grown in any old bucket or pail. No points are awarded since prizes are a $50 gift certificate from Horse Lake Garden Centre, $25 from La Petite Diane Antique Restoration, and $10 from Danco’s Hoof Trimming. Entrants should note an omission on Page 13 of the entry booklet. Beside Class 14, for tame fruit jam, there should be a statement reading: “OR, for contest, see Page 7.” Certo is sponsoring coupon prizes of $20 and $10

Siana Kelly, left, manned the knitted goods table. She served Richmond residents Cheryl Eckert and Richard Scott during the Sulphurous Lake & District Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary’s bake and craft sale, May 19. for the best tame fruit jam. Residents can enter 20 sections, ranging from baking through garden produce, handicrafts and photography. The fair is at Interlakes Hall on Aug. 19 and entries are accepted all day Aug. 18. Range cattle Summer is here and that means free range cattle meandering along our roads. Horse Lake Road is of special concern as it is a major travel route and extremely “bendy.” One often finds Betsy and her

calf just around the corner. Drivers should be acutely aware, as the loss of just one calf severely impacts our ranchers’ incomes. Gardeners, especially in the Deka area where cattle roam throughout the subdivision, need to know that only a four-strand barbed wire fence is legal defence against damage by the herd. BLCS news On June 24, at 1 p.m., Eva Bechtel will instruct a Bridge Lake Community School class on painting on silk. The cost is $20.

Space is limited to seven, and registration deadline is June 18. Photographic aficionados will be happy Marshall Cant is leading a three-day digital camera workshop on July 16-18.

Celebrations Interlakes sends warmest congratulations to this year’s Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School graduates: Brandon Allan, Martina Berger, Kelly Diether and Jesse Granberg; and to Dakota, Dallas and Kodiak Canton, Jake Jewitt and Sylvia Steeves who spent at least some of their childhood here. We wish you all an amaz-

ing future. Congratulations also go to Aydin Barnbrook for his outstanding performance at the May 24 Track and Field Meet, which culminated in his earning the boys’ aggregate award, and to his little sister, Darbie, who placed in the 200-metre event. Birthday bubbly goes to Alamu Durand, Vera Rottluff, Mary Weight and Bill Penner.
