Coaching staff has Williams’ back By Bev Odom The Red River Sun
WELLINGTON — The Skyrocket coaching staff and duties remain the same for 2017 according to Athletic Director/Head Football Coach Wade Williams. “Wellington has one of the best overall coaching staffs in the state of Texas,” he said. “The five guys on our football staff could very easily be head coaches in other programs. They always have my back. Those guys notice what needs to be done, and they get it done. We better get ready as other schools will be calling. Our girls staff is also one of the best I have been around in my coaching career. They definitely have a passion for what they do.” Wellington added Assistant Coach Kyle Timmons to the staff last year. “Coach Timmons has done a great job learning the ropes here at Wellington,” stated Williams. “I expect good things from him after a good year.” In his 7th year, Timmons is coaching the Skyrocket receivers and defensive secondary. He’ll also coaches the Junior High in addition to High School basketball, track and baseball and teaches world geography at WHS. Joe Jones coaches the Skyrocket defensive line and offensive line. He is in charge of the JV Rockets and helps with the Junior High. He will also coach basketball and track. He teaches social studies at WJHS. Coach Jones came to Wellington first in 2003 through 2005 and returned in 2010. He’s in his ninth year as a Skyrocket coach and his 27th year overall. See COACHING Page 27 Courtesy photo for The Sun
