It’s Time for Your Testing Check-up

Is your child getting a healthy and robust education? Is his knowledge developing at a normal rate? Or even an above average rate?

Just as we often need to make sure a young child’s growth is headed in the right direction or that an older child is staying healthy, education needs benchmarks. What you care about, you evaluate. Therefore, testing is an essential component of the educational process.

Achievement testing uses the same tool to test development that a doctor does: percentile ranks. And just as this tool can show what unhealthy trends need correction, achievement tests can show where a child’s learning path may need to be adjusted by showing whether a student is keeping up with peers.

BJU Press Testing is here to provide what you need for this essential tool by combining knowledge and decades of experience with technology to give you a smooth process from start to finish, from choosing the right test to interpreting results.

“In eight years of homeschooling, this was our first time using standardized testing. The test provided a helpful and unbiased way to confirm my student’s academic achievements. I will have peace-of-mind in the upcoming school year as well as a guide on where we need to slow down.”

– homeschool mom from Illinois

Academic Guidance

Standardized tests confirm your child’s strengths and reveal weaknesses that may not be obvious otherwise. Especially helpful is the boldness a child gains when scores show that homeschooling is a valid way to learn, not to speak of the confidence you’ll pick up. Plus, even weak scores are helpful. They diagnose areas where your student needs to grow. Maybe he seems to be doing great on tests but isn’t really retaining what he learns, for example. Or maybe he’s not gaining critical thinking skills.

A test that you can use as a course correction throughout your child’s education will prove invaluable.

Objective Measurement

The measuring method of standardized tests allows students to overcome both real and perceived limits of chapter tests and final exams. Rather than assessing your child’s education based on one textbook or teaching method, measure using the same scale used across the nation. Because of standardized testing’s objectivity, accurate results are easy to achieve.
