Grade 11
You are almost there. Welcome to the secondto-last grade of your student’s high school career. Here is what’s coming this year. Your student will read key texts and authors in American literature, grow in proficient use of grammar and writing skills, and further expand a portfolio of written work. Your child will also learn proficiency in algebraic knowledge, explore modeling the world with chemistry, and analyze notable events and figures in United States history. Your Bible course for this year consists of three mini courses that will feature methods for Bible study, discuss basic beliefs of other religions, and discuss indepth the book of Ecclesiastes.
Each of your student’s courses teaches foundational biblical principles, encourages thoughtful discussions, and offers exciting hands-on activities. Designated learning objectives for each course will also give you reliable indicators of how well your student is comprehending and applying the material.
We are excited for you as you watch your student approach the finish line of homeschooling. Our desire throughout this process is to give you the resources you need to set up your child for success. The Way of the Word teaches methods of Bible study, including principles of interpretation and application. It includes exercises that study a passage according to genre and context and that apply Scripture to contemporary situations. What Is Truth? contrasts the Christian worldview with the basic tenets of Hinduism, Buddhism, secular humanism, and postmodernism. Beyond the Sun presents an expositional view of Ecclesiastes, revealing God’s perspective on the meaning of life in a fallen world.

Chemistry (5th Edition)
This course introduces the study of the structure and composition of matter and how matter interacts with other kinds of matter. Through consistent review and practice, students will understand more about science and learn how to solve complex problems with logic. Daily lessons include a brief review of previous material, discussion of new material as it relates to familiar content, lab activities, and additional review. Segments cover elements from the periodic table, and guided notes and Quizlets are also available.
United States History (5th edition)
This course teaches students about the development of the United States as a nation in order for them to become informed and empowered citizens. It begins with early American settlement, then moves on through the formation and early years of the nation, the Constitution, and the many challenges that have threatened the nation’s survival. Students will learn to use their knowledge of the nation’s history to make informed decisions.
Algebra 2 (3rd edition)

The student will review and extend his knowledge of linear, quadratic, polynomial, radical, and rational functions. He will then study logarithms, trigonometry, sequences and series, probability and statistics, and conics. Chapter openers and unique real-world application problems present mathematics within the biblical worldview of serving others and glorifying God.

This book is a fascinating study of English word origins by way of allusion, coining, back-formation, folk etymology, and borrowing from other languages, especially French. Video course not available
English 11
The English 11 video course is a yearlong course that covers both American Literature and Writing & Grammar 11 daily.*
Writing & Grammar 11 presents and reviews key concepts in grammar, usage, and mechanics. It includes writing projects to develop writing and communication skills, as well as reference chapters for library and study skills. The video course includes segments that explore common grammar mistakes and inspirational insights on why students should write.
American Literature uses the reading process approach to encourage high level reading comprehension and critical-thinking skills as it introduces students to a variety of new authors and genres. Students will also learn close reading and other study skills. The video course includes segments that introduce the topics covered in each unit, explore the authors’ lives, and provide dramatizations and animations of literary excerpts. The video course will focus primarily on literature and writing while also offering regular review of key grammar concepts.
