Rainbow Bakes

The dessert industry is estimated to be worth more than $ 415 billion globally by Fortune Business Insights. Rainbow Bakes has entered to take its share in this market with its glorious bright colors. When filled with boredom and anxiety during the lockdown, an experiment in the home kitchen to treat herself to a delicious chocolate cake, Anita Gurung, the founder of Rainbow Bakes, surely found her calling. She was delighted with baking so much that she found it to be something she would really love doing professionally as well as teaching the fellow deaf team members of her previous project - Happy Hands Nepal alongside. Anita took about a month to plan, conceptualize and execute the Rainbow Cheesecake Jar Aka Jar of Happiness into action which to date is their best seller.

Rainbow Bakes is inspired by the concept of a Rainbow Baby. A Rainbow Baby is a baby born after a miscarriage. The arrival of the conceived baby symbolizes hope and the light it brings to the parents’ life after their dark time. As a parent-to-be to a Rainbow Baby back in 2018, Anita wanted to commemorate her pregnancy which coincidentally was around the time of her golden birthday with a rainbow cake. Born on the 30th, Anita’s golden birthday took place when she turned 30. Seeking a Rainbow cake in Kathmandu back then was a letdown as obtaining the same was either super expensive or no one wanted to execute the same. Hence, when she set foot in the dessert industry during the pandemic, the emphasis was on the rainbow theme so as to spread love, hope, and happiness to different lives during the dark difficult times.
