VALENCIA, CAL., Nov. 28, 1971 — Today's all-Junior, Old-Timer and Powder Puff program, which was held on the new Shadow Glen course at Indian Dunes Park, drew an entry of 364 motocross racers. But only two of them were able to collect a perfect, three-for-three win score. The two grand-slam winners were Matt Bilton, who grabbed three straight victories over the 125cc Novices in division "B," and Gary Dranow, who turned back the Open Novices in three straight sets.
Bilton, DKW-mounted, gained his wins at the expense of Richard Kaeding (Ric), Mike Waste (Pen), Allen Garrett (Yam), and Randy Stubbs (Bul). Meanwhile, CZ-mounted Dranow conked an Open field that included such formidable foes as the Maico cyclone Glen Lane, Gary Martin (CZ), Bob Kane (Hus), and Russ Mortensen (Mai).
