Though Spring has been a bit gloomy, Summer is finally here!

Greetings from Athletics. Though mornings are still on the cool side, afternoons are crisp and perfect for any sporting activity we offer here at Birnam Wood.

Racquet sports are an ever-growing department here at the Club. Because of this, we now offer two great ball machine options. We have purchased a Playmate Pickleball machine, and a Playmate Tennis ball machine.

Both ball machines are available to rent for $15 for the hour. Once reserved, we will gladly have your machine ready at your reserved practice time. If you have any questions, please contact the Athletic Department.

Pickleball and Tennis are calling you to the courts! Our pickleball courts’ more visible NVZ (No Volley Zone) or Kitchen lines are a great shade of orange, and the reconditioned clay courts are busier than ever. Come be part of the fun with our ever-growing sports programming.

The Bocce Ball courts are the place to be on Wednesday evenings beginning at 5:00pm. This season has been fun for all. The competition level is high, and so are the spirits. This has become the highlight of my week, and the same can be said for our members. If you haven’t given bocce a try, contact the Athletic Department for an introduction to the sport.

Friday’s ‘Croquet & Rose’ has been a great opportunity to showcase this beautiful lawn sport. Every event has been sold out and it has created a new appreciation for the game of Croquet Golf.

As we welcome the Summer season, we hope you will remain active with all that Birnam Wood has to offer.
