… if he could use my lawnmower and I told him of course he could, so long as he didn't take it out of my garden” said the late Eric Morecambe. Very funny but not very friendly though!

It seemed like an apt quote though to introduce you to a new monthly feature that we’re running called ‘Over the Hedge’. Don’t you just love mooching in estate agents windows, rightmove and the property pages of magazines to see how “other people” live? I know we do - it’s a harmless form of voyeurism that can often take you off into a dream world of how life could be if you lived in a different village/house/budget. So when we were watching the kids film of the same name we suddenly figured we could run a feature in our own magazines taking a look at people’s gardens. Whether they are big, small, unkempt, manicured, landscaped or hand crafted we want to see them! .Kicking off the feature this month is our own garden. Well, actually it’s the fairy garden lovingly placed in the corner of ours. The children love it. So don’t be shy - send us a snap of yours and you could be the next ones to feature! Much love until next month Coralie and Sean x

My gang show experience It is with gratitude that I was involved in the amazing year Gosport Gang Show has experienced! When I first joined the gang show 5 years ago, I was very shy and I wasn’t particularly sure if I’d be confident enough to get on stage, let alone have the ability to perform to the excellent standard of the gang show but five years later I still find myself performing in the cast, even taking on a solo part.

guiding movement I would strongly recommend joining the Gosport gang show as it is great fun and an extremely rewarding experience for people of all ages beyond the age of 8. The “show” itself is fun to do but the best part is “The gang” meeting new friends and reconciling with friends from past years. We have a lot of fun at rehearsals and the cast is supportive of one another. If you are unconfident about joining, as I originally was, my advice is to sign up and enjoy the amazing feeling of being on stage, if you are not involved in the scouting or guiding movement you can still show your support by coming to watch the Next Gosport Gang Show in 2016.

The Gosport Gang Show is an annual show consisting of song, dance, spectacle and comedy, performed by members of the scout and guide movements from the age 8 onwards. Once you have performed one show (the dress rehearsal) you are given your red scarf (a bright red neckerchief with the gang show emblem on the back) the Jake Jones aged 12 red scarf is an accolade worn by the Best Gang shows in the country and it represents not only the achievement of excellence but also the community between gang shows. Being presented the scarf by the show’s producer is a tradition when each new member is welcomed in to the gang show family. This year our show included 14 different items including a Beatles medley and 5 different comedy sketches. My favourite item was named “the 12 days of scout camp” (the scouting take of the Christmas classic the 12 days of Christmas) it was incredibly fun to perform and has the audience laughing . If you are a member of the scouting or

Little snacks Little forr El fo Elev evenses enses INGREDIENTS 5 stalks of celery 10 tablespoons of peanut butter Quarter of a red pepper, chopped into small pieces

METHOD Making healthy nibbles for children can be super simple, especially if you get them involved. These crunchy nibbles are easy to make and really tasty too! Give the celery a wash under the tap and then cut into smaller sticks about 10cms long. Fill up the inside bit with some peanut butter. Chop up the red pepper into little pieces and add to the top of the peanut butter. Sultanas work well too if you want to add some sweetness!

We hope you are enjoying the sunshine and making the most of being out in your garden. When the weather is good we all like to invite friends and family round to enjoy a b-b-q, have a get together, or just do some gardening and why not. We all tend to open windows to let fresh air in. When you are in the back garden think security!! Please do not leave your windows open or your exterior doors unlocked especially if you are in the back garden! It only takes a thief seconds to enter your home and take what belongs to you. During this welcome hot spell burglars will be on the lookout for easy targets! Could this happen at your address??? Vehicle security is just as important as your home security. Lock all the doors, windows, boot and sunroof every time you leave your car - however briefly. The cat, the dog, Little Red, the exploding eggs, the wolf and grandma’s wardrobe

Book Review

by Diane and Christyan Fox

I know I’m always saying how much fun these books are but this one really is. It’s laugh out loud! Cat is trying to read the classic fairy tale of little Red Riding Hood to Dog but Dog keeps interrupting – parents will recognise the scenario. He jumps to conclusions all the time – she wears a cloak so she must be a superhero, she must have special powers (kindness?) and she must have a crime fighting gadget (flying gadget basket).

there’s humour on many levels. I’m really looking forward to sharing this with my next class visit. Wolf – if he’s going to be a super villain then he should think bigger and Red Riding Hood can’t be very bright if she doesn’t recognise the Wolf in her grandma’s clothes.

It’s got simple comic style illustrations and reads like a conversation between two friends. It will appeal to a wide He also doesn’t think much of the range of ages including adults as

@MoneySavingExpert

Only EE, Vodafone, Three and O2 are actual mobile networks, yet there are many cheap virtual networks piggybacking on the same signal. E.g. Giffgaff is O2, Asda is EE, TalkMobile is Vodafone and Shebang is Three (full piggyback list at www.mse.me/piggyback). So check which other providers piggyback on your existing network and see if they’re cheaper. Energy firms can't charge exit penalties within 49 days of a fix ending. If you’re on a cheap fixed energy deal you needn't wait until the last day to switch to avoid exit fees as rules state that 49 days before your fix ends, you're allowed to switch without penalty. Play the codeshare trick - where two airlines sell the same flight. Airlines don't shout that their partners often sell their flights too, sometimes for less. If you're going on popular long-haul routes this can be a way to save.

So, we sometimes hear that nothing happens in our towns, but is that true? We disagree. There are always folk working away behind the scenes organising and volunteering, giving up their time to make things happen for others.
