It’s the Australian company’s attention to detail and modern take on luxury river cruising that has seen Avalon Waterways take out the award for Best Luxury River Cruise Line. Avalon has won awards for its innovative Panorama Suites, with wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling windows. But it’s Avalon’s recent investment in improving its shore offerings and themed cruises which have put it in first place. Their ethos is that luxury is about having the ability to choose your own holiday. The line now offers cruisers a range of excursions ranging from bespoke culinary experiences to active adventures. The line’s culinary cruises might include a Master of Wine to travel with you for tastings and pairings, while onboard, you may have a French chef share his expertise during a pastry demonstration. More active cruisers might opt to explore destinations by kayak, bicycle or on foot. “We may not have white gloved luxury but the relaxed luxury that we provide really suits the Australian traveller.
