Over the four and a half years they have been matched, Little Aiden and Big Spencer have built a strong, fun, and rewarding relationship. Recently, Spencer has been helping Aiden with the return to in-person learning. Aiden’s mother, Monique, has also been a huge support for their match and has shared her insights as part of BBBS of NYC’s Parent Advisory Council.

In 2020, Aiden wrote and published a book entitled Me and My Afro, which focuses on self-love and celebrating your identity. Aiden’s book was highlighted by media outlets and publications, including People magazine, NBC News, and BET. He created a companion coloring book as well as a sequel, Me and My Afro: When I Grow Up. He loves to connect with other children, who are enjoying seeing themselves represented in his books!

Our work is made possible through our community. BBBS of NYC ignites potential in our City’s youth in partnership with our community and network of support. Learn how you can get involved today.
