Welcome Welcome to Sheffield Teaching Hospital’s staff Benefits Booklet, which includes information about the unique discounts, offers and benefits you can enjoy as a member of staff at the Trust. We want Sheffield Teaching Hospitals to be a ‘brilliant place to work’ and for our staff to feel valued and rewarded for doing an outstanding job. This is why we are always looking for ways to support you and ask for your ideas. Your feedback told us that many of you wanted a brand new staff benefits booklet so we hope that the contents will be of interest and use to you and your family. If you have any queries about any of the benefits, there are contact details attached to each benefit. Should you wish to notify us of any staff benefits not in the booklet, please use the form attached on page 14. This booklet is also available on the Trust intranet. Salary Sacrifice Schemes (i-Choose) You can apply for one or all of the i-Choose schemes listed below to maximise your savings by reducing your salary. The schemes work by giving up part of your salary in exchange for a non-cash benefit which means you will save on tax, national insurance and pension contributions (if you pay into the pension scheme). Health and Wellbeing There is a range of health and wellbeing support available for staff within the Trust. For the latest information see our Staff Health and Wellbeing site (access via quick links on intranet). The wellbeing site includes sleep tips, healthy eating and weight management, advice on managing stress, exercise advice and opportunities including running clubs, menopause information and more! HeadSpace App The HeadSpace App enables you to train your mind using proven meditation and mindfulness techniques which can help you to have a happier, healthier and more enjoyable life. Staff can access the App free (the usual price of subscription is ÂŁ59 per year). Psychological Support There are times in everyone’s life when for a number of reasons levels of stress, anxiety or general physical and mental wellbeing are affected by personal or work life issues. We offer a psychological wellbeing service for all staff. The team includes qualified clinical psychologists, counsellors and a psychological wellbeing practitioner who are experienced in caring for individuals needing support. Mindfulness The Trusts Chaplains run a number of mindfulness sessions throughout the year that any member of staff can attend. For more information about Mindfulness and session dates please visit the Mindfulness page on the Staff Engagement SharePoint site.

Staff Physiotherapy Service Staff can access free Physiotherapy services via self-referral rather than via a GP. This means that you are usually able to access Physiotherapy more quickly. You can access the online self-referral form via the STH intranet page: http://nww.sth.nhs.uk/nhs/ communityServices/xxxPhysioPlus/Default.htm
Health checks for staff Staff over 40 can have a confidential health and wellbeing check-up including checks on your BMI and cholesterol and will be given support to make small changes to improve health and wellbeing. To arrange your health check please email your name, department and contact details to MOT@sth.nhs.uk
Sheffield Vision Centre The Sheffield Vision Centre is run and owned by the Trust. Trust staff can save up to 20% on opticians services (including designer glasses) and also qualify for 10% off the centre’s laser eye services. Free Flu Jab All members of staff are able to get a free flu vaccination within the Trust. Flu clinics for staff start in October. More details are available on the intranet. We are continuously looking to improve and update our Health and Wellbeing offer for staff as part of the Trust’s People strategy. Sunshine Day Nursery The Trust operates two day nurseries located on site at both the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and the Northern General Hospital. Both nurseries are rated Good by OFSTED and are open Monday to Friday and offer convenient, competitively priced, high quality care. Staff Discounts Discounted Gym Membership A number of gyms around Sheffield offer discounted membership for our staff so if you are purchasing a new membership or renewing your existing one it is worth asking your gym if you can receive a discount as an NHS member of staff.

Staff restaurants Take advantage of the subsidised staff restaurants at the main hospital sites. You will need your ID badge. The Trust is committed to helping staff eat more healthily so why not check out the great range of healthy eating options available across all of the staff restaurants.
Shopping discounts Shopping discounts are available that have been negotiated nationally through NHS Discounts, and locally by the Trust and offer you access to a range of discounts with retailers e.g. 10% discount at the Boots stores at the Northern General and Royal Hallamshire Hospitals. Travel As a member of staff you will be able to access the H1 shuttle bus that runs between the Northern General and Royal Hallamshire Hospitals free upon production of a valid ID badge. The service runs from 06:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday. We also offer a range of our travel plan initiatives such as a car share scheme and support to help you cycle to work.
