The Trust said farewell to Senior Sister Mary Farnell, who worked in the Emergency Department at Jimmy’s. She started at the hospital as an agency nurse before moving into a substantive post at the LGI. She then returned to Jimmy’s in 2011 to take responsibility for the Minor Injuries and Primary Care Access Line.

Ward Sister Jenny Fielding has retied Trust after 32 years. The Senior Sister worked on ward J98 – the surgical oncology ward - based in Bexley wing at Jimmy’s.

Mary is currently enjoying her retirement but has shared plans to return to nursing in the near future. She is involved with her local theatre group and plans to perform over summer. To mark her retirement, she got a new puppy dog called Billy, who will join her older Golden Retriever, Frankie. Sister Julie Groves said: “Urgent Care across the city were really sorry to see Mary leave. However, we hope she really enjoys her retirement, spending time with her new puppy and treading the boards.”

Eve Cooper Theatre Sister Eve Cooper has retired after working at the Trust for 23 years at St James’s. She worked in the Upper Gastro-Intestinal and Transplant theatres at the hospital in Bexley wing. Now retired, she intends to move to Clifton Moor in York and is planning a big holiday in Borneo. Colleague, Ann Pezone, said: “We’re all really going to miss Eve here in the Bexley wing theatres – she was a really valued member of the team. We’d like to wish her the very best for her retirement and hope that she enjoys it!”

She started at the hospital in 1984 and, now retired, plans to come back and continue working as a nurse on ward J23. However, she does intend to have some retail therapy and enjoy ‘wining and dining’ too. On top of this, she will be spending more of her time on her garden. Eunice Redknapp, Sister, said: “Although she hasn’t gone too far away from us, the team on J98 really hope Jenny enjoys her retirement. She was a real star on our ward and we will all miss her.”
