The PEA’s project to replace all roadside lightings with LED units has been acknowledged and registered with the United Nations as a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) programme of activities (PoA), the only of its kind in Thailand and the world’s fif irst programme to replace street lightings with LED units. Regarding the public sector, PEA, in cooperation with the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Effif iciency (DEDE) and several educational institutions, has pursued researches to foster eff ificient energy management and investment as well as to acquire and install approximately 600,000 LED fif ixtures in public off ifices. As for the industrial sector, the highest national energy consumption sector, PEA has organized a “1 Save 1 Baht” project, to promote energy saving in the said sector. Initially, PEA encouraged industrial factories to replace 48-watt flf luorescent fif ittings with 24-watt energy-saving LED bulbs (50% reduction), offering monetary rewards to business owners according to the saving results, which was 1 Baht per 1 energy saving unit. The goal was 300 million Baht per 300 million energy saving units. This project has been expanded to the industrial sector nationwide to install energy-saving f ifittings. At present, 100 million
