They must be sent et one time (including the special catologues prepared by the country). f) the retum to other destinations or through a different port or the dismemberment of the exhibition, must be arranged beforhand with the Biennial, in which case additional e:x:penses incurred for transportation and customs formalities, will be for account of the exhibiting country; g) the Biennial will only bear the charges for transportation in Brazil (from the port of entry to the headquarters of the Biennial and from the Biennial tp the port of reshipment), unpacking and repacking of the works; h) by force of customs demands, foreign works cannotl remain in Brazi! more than twelve months arter their delivery to the Bienal de São Paulo. Art. V - The Brazilian representation will be made by: a) selection; b) invitation. § 1 A jury composed of art critics will be designated to make selection in places previously designated and advertised, obeying the criterium established by the Technical Secretariat. § 2 Invitations to Brazilian artists will be made having in view, by' preference programmed exhibitions. § 3 The term for inscription, remittance of the work and completion of entry-forms of the Brazilian artists, envited or selected, will be communicated in due time. § 4 - In the case of Brazilian participation, the Biennial will only bear the charges for transportation and mounting of the works of invited or selected artists. Art. VI - The following prizes are instituted for the Exhibition of Visual Arts: a) Eight "Bienal de São Paulo" Prizes, to the value of US$ 20.000 {twenty thousand dollars) to be divided into equal shares of US$ 2.500 (two thousand five hundred dollars) to be awarded to the most representative artísts regardless of technique; b) The "Itamaraty Prize" of US$ 10.000 (ten thousand dollars) to be awarded to any competitor regardless of technique who obtains at least 4/5ths of votes from the Prize Awarding Jury. The "Itamaraty Prize" cann6t be conferred "e-aequo"; c) The "Governador do Estado de São Paulo Prize" of Cr$ 8.000,00 (eight thousand cruzeiros), to the most important work by a Brazilian exhibitor; d) The "Prefeitura do Município de São Paulo Prize" of Cr$ 8.000,00 (eigth thousand cruzeiros) to the most important research work by a Brazilian exhibitor; e) Bursaries will be awarded: I - in Brazil to foreign artists; II - abroad to Brazilian artists. Selection of bursars will be incumbent upon the Prize Awarding Jury. Art. VII - The Prize Awarding Jury will be composed of 5 (five) ar1j critics one from Brazil and 4 (four) foreigners, all of them of international reputation. Sole paragraph - These ones will be designed by the invited Countrlies in order to represent the geographical areas in the XII Biennial. Art. VIII - The Prize Awarding Jury of which no commissioner may take part, shall meet seven days before the opening of the Biennial with five days at their disposal for their deliberations. Art. IX - Exhibitors who have received prizes at previous Biennials cannot be awarded the same prize. But their works may compete for the other prizes. Art. X - The prizes received in Brazil~ inc1uding those whose value is sta!led in dollars, will be paid in cruzeiros, converted at the rate of the day.

CHAPTER V Sales Department Art. XI - The acquisition of works exhibited at the XII Biennial will be made exclusively through its Sales Department. Art. :xn - The "Fundação Bienal de São Paulo" will receive a commission of 15%, deducted from the selling price of each work of art acquired. A tist
