DIRECTOR’S NOTES

Eleven years and still going strong, Bialik Rising Star continues to give not only our emerging singers, but also our instrumental students, incredible performance opportunities.

We live in the shadow of the ‘one in a hundred years’ covid pandemic and our world is slowly getting back on its feet. What better way to celebrate the return to normal than with a theme that gets us back on our feet, gets the blood pumping through our veins and brings us not only the joy of classic tunes by music legends, but even the greater joy of gathering together to celebrate the art of music.

The songs you will hear tonight span many decades and are as interesting and varied as the people that sang them and made them famous. Since the dawn of time, humans have moved their bodies to music. Whether Disco or Motown, Folktronica or House, Northern Soul or Dance-Pop, Tropical or Latin American, you will hear songs tonight that will make you want to move! With artists represented like The Jacksons, Michael Bublé, Amy Winehouse, Donna Summer, Stevie Wonder, Meghan Trainor and Justin Timberlake to name but a few, the evening is full of wonderfully crafted melodies that will have you tripping down memory lane – some of those memories more recent and some much older. We like to move it and hope you do too!
