Commercial property owners in the area launched a Community Improvement District (CID) in 2019 in order to improve mobility and help revitalize the commercial area.

A public-private partnership between local commercial property owners and the cities and county, the Chamblee Doraville CID will advance capital projects and community services critical to the health and vitality of the business community. The CID’s initial footprint includes parcels in a 2-square mile portion of the commercial area within both Chamblee and Doraville. Generally, the current boundaries include Peachtree Boulevard on the west, Buford Highway on the east, I-285 on the north and Chamblee Tucker Road on the south.

The greater area is anchored by two MARTA rail stations, Peachtree-DeKalb Airport, highways, and a growing trail system. It has a rich and diverse cultural community as well as a growing multifamily, retail, and commercial presence. The CID will focus investments in projects that improve mobility, access, safety, and quality of life. The goal is to protect and enhance the existing commercial property owners’ investments and manage the area’s future growth needs.

The City of Chamblee, located in northern DeKalb, began as a southern rail town from an area originally consisting of dairy farms. Chamblee’s history is intertwined with three entities – dairies, railroads and the military.

Over the decades, the city has been transformed into a progressive and vibrant international city. From the South’s largest collection of antiques to the extensive collection of auto dealerships at Chamblee’s Auto Dealer Row, Chamblee is an exciting city to explore. Chamblee also offers comfortable lodging, bargain hunting opportunities and an incredible selection of dining options.

Founded in 1871, this diverse, international city of 10,000 is located 10 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta. Doraville is home to the Southeast’s most prosperous immigrant-owned small business community and the former General Motors Assembly Plant – a 165-acre swath of prime real estate poised for redevelopment. With progressive leadership and access to a market of 5 million and growing, Doraville has all the tangible assets one would seek in a start-up venture or business relocation.

Brookhaven’s residents enjoy shopping at Town Brookhaven, which offers dozens of restaurants, shops and services, including hair salons, a fitness center and a movie theater. Northeast Plaza on Buford Highway offers discount and ethnic stores.
