Despite difficulty maneuvering around the City, businesses and restaurants will be open during their normal business hours. The first streets to begin opening by 12:30 p.m. will include Rexford Drive and Beverly Drive at Santa Monica Boulevard.

Runners, who start the course at Dodger Stadium, will arrive in Beverly Hills at mile 17 on their way to the finish line near the Santa Monica Pier. At the corners of Rodeo Drive and Little Santa Monica, the Concern Foundation, an official marathon charity based in Beverly Hills, will be welcoming runners with a big balloon arch spanning the street, music, volunteer cheerleaders with cowbells and pompoms, and water. Concert Featuring WindSync Set For Those With Autism & Their Families The Help Group & Music for Autism will present their sixth interactive concert for individuals with autism and their families at 1 p.m. Sunday, downtown at The Help Group, 4160 Grand View. The free one-hour interactive concert includes three segments –“concert time,” “conducting time” and “percussion time” - where concertgoers are invited to join the experience with their movement and provided instruments. UCLA Longevity Program Offers Courses To Help Develop Senior Scholars Senior Scholars, an education program offered by the UCLA Longevity Center, gives people age 50 and over the opportunity to expand their learning by attending undergraduate classes at UCLA. The program provides a catalog of more than 700 courses and handles registration logistics. Participants attend lectures given by leading professors while exchanging ideas across generations and cultures. No prerequisites or class work are required as classes are taken on an audit basis. Shahla Melamed After working for a few years, she opened her own pharmacy, Rox San Pharmacy in Beverly Hills. She soon created her own skin-care line and well as various compound medications; and gets orders from around the world. She has been invited by both UCLA and USC to lecture on innovative compounds and custom-made medications. Her pharmacy is now one of 25 in the U.S. registered to carry infertility medications and serve patients from around the country. Among her memberships are the California Pharmacists Association, the National Community Pharmacy Association and the Professional Compounding Centers of America. She is married to Dr. Houshang Melamed and has two sons, Drs. Hooman and Hootan Melamed.
