PROGRAMMING ACROSS ALL CLUBS

Our programming focuses on the whole child: we are passionate about educational success, but we are also passionate about health and wellness, youth leadership, job readiness, sports, fitness, and play, and the arts.

Programming blends daily enrichment across many content areas. Popular activities include STEM, arts and crafts, cooking, community service opportunities, and wellness activities.

In line with Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco’s commitment to healthy lifestyles, members engage in structured and unstructured play time. Staff are trained to facilitate games, activities, and sports so kids have fun and build a strong appreciation for physical activity. Multiple sports leagues are also offered throughout the year and are included as part of a membership.

CLUBHOUSE-SPECIFIC SPECIALTIES

Each of our Clubhouses have some programmatic areas that are unique to their location. For more information on specific Clubhouse program highlights visit www.kidsclub.org/Clubs. Club-specific highlights include:

PERFORMING ARTS FINE ARTS SWIM ACADEMY COOKING

Several of our Clubs offer classes in acting, musical theater, dance, and performance for youth of all ages.

Several of our Clubs also include high-quality music studios through our partnership with Notes For Notes. Members can work with professional music instructors to learn a new instrument and write and record music.

Through drawing, painting, photography, and more, youth learn to use fine art as a lens into their own lives and a tool to affect positive change.

Our comprehensive swim program offers affordable, high-quality, and safe water smart classes, recreational swim, learnto-swim classes, and competitive swim.

All Clubs offer cooking classes where youth learn to make nutritious meals. At several Clubs, three are also onsite gardens where youth harvest their own fruits and vegetables.

OUR INTEGRATED APPROACH TO SUPPORTING ACADEMIC SUCCESS AND SOCIOEMOTIONAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS

ACADEMIC SUCCESS

We provide strong academic mentorship and enrichment activities that promote skill building, confidence, and a love of learning in a safe, supportive, and innovative environment. Every day at the Club, our skilled and caring staff provide the guidance and encouragement that young people need to progress grades annually and graduate from high school with a plan for the future.

Our signature academic programs include:

• Daily Power Hour (Dedicated homework support.)

• Tutoring (One-on-one and small group sessions.)

• STEM (Hands-on, creative programming that engages youth and sparks an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math.)

• College Prep (Scholarship opportunities, financial aid, test prep classes, career exposures, annual college tour for teens, and more!)

SOCIOEMOTIONAL SUPPORT AND WELLNESS

Behavioral Health Services is an essential component of our holistic approach to youth development.

Our team of Behavioral Health Specialists:

• Prioritize wellness activities, regular mental health check-ins, and early interventions

• Share coping strategies

• Lead behavioral health training for all Club staff

• Provide individual and family therapy at no cost to families

A COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT NETWORK

The pandemic made it clear that there is a high degree of connectivity between a young person’s mental health and their ability to excel academically. To address this, we allocated significant resources toward Education and Behavioral Health Services.

This close collaboration allows us to create a comprehensive support system that supports youth in the most effective way possible and will sustain them well into the future.

“Working at the Tenderloin Clubhouse allows me to be part of a close-knit community of Club staff, families, and local schools. I am proud of how we work together to support members individually and provide them with the resources and encouragement to realize their potential.”

FIRST-CLASS FACILITIES

PREPARING FOR A BRIGHT AND SUCCESSFUL FUTURE

Throughout the year, Club members of all ages participate in community service and leadership programs that build their skills while teaching them that they have the power to positively bring about change in their community.

With guidance from our skilled and caring staff and access to unique and age-appropriate opportunities, BGCSF helps youth map out life goals, gain perspective on problems with which they struggle, and develop their professionalism.

The Club connects teens to opportunities though:

• College prep (assistance with college applications and college tours)

• Career exposures

• Mock interviews

• Advocacy and community spokesperson opportunities

• Connections to job opportunities and internships

• Scholarships and financial assistance

• Financial literacy programming

A SENSE OF INCLUSION AND BELONGING

We create a second home for youth who all have a strong sense that their Club belongs to them. This sense of ownership and pride builds confidence and ensures that all youth know that their Clubhouse is a place where they will always feel included and supported.
