Yoga in the Park

Senior Walks with Becky

Our FREE Yoga in The Park series is back again this summer with our friends at Tapas Yoga! Enjoy the benefits of a movement practice surrounded by the serenity of our beautiful scenic parks right here in Bettendorf. These level gentle flowing yoga classes will open and stretch the body while you breathe fresh air and clear your mind from the day's clutter. Led by a qualified instructor, each class is accessible enough for those who are newer to yoga to participate and start enjoying the peace we feel through movement and time spent in the sacred outdoors. In the event of rain, class is cancelled.

Our "Senior Walks with Becky" sessions, for active adults 55 and older, meet on Monday mornings. Each week, we meet at a different trail in Bettendorf. Participants will enjoy a fun, scenic outdoor walk along our amazing network of trails with our very own Trails Coordinator, Becky Lovich, and other Bettendorf Trails Committee volunteers! All walks are 1.5 to 2 miles (out and back total). Walk with friends or meet new ones! Learn about the trails, enjoy the outdoors, and stay active! No rain makeup dates. Anyone needing assistance must rely on their own aid throughout the walk. We encourage all to bring a water bottle and to wear your sunscreen. These are not timed walks, but rather leisure walks for all skill levels to participate in! Anyone dropped off must make accommodations for pick-up.

Palmer Hills After School Golf

This program will be an introduction to golf fundamentals. Our goal is to create a fun and safe atmosphere with friends after school exploring golf. These sessions will be supervised and structured. Each day a new area of the game will be discussed and practiced. Golf practice between sessions helps facilitate advancement in the game. The more practice in putting, chipping, pitching, and full swing the better your junior golfer will grow in the game. The instructors will keep communication between athlete, parents, and coach to the highest level of respect. We will offer mentorship and do everything we can to help build confidence in our students. Registration starts February 26 at bettendorf.org/golf. PARK AMBASSADORS Consider joining our Park Ambassador volunteer group! Park Ambassadors are volunteers who patrol the City’s parks and play an important role in keeping the parks safe and beautiful. They work to provide a positive experience for everyone who visits our parks. Duties include identifying items that need attention from the Parks Maintenance Department or Bettendorf Police Department, checking for vandalism, offering assistance to park patrons, and overall acting as an extra set of eyes and ears for the City. The most important duty is to act as a goodwill ambassador for the City of Bettendorf. The Park Ambassador Program runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day. An orientation will be held for new and returning Ambassadors on Thursday, May 16 at the Bettendorf Community Center. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license, and must pass a background check. Do you have a high school student who is looking to earn volunteer hours? We welcome parents/guardians to volunteer with their students age 16 and older. Applications may be picked up at the Bettendorf Community Center, Family Museum, Bettendorf Library, Palmer Hills Golf Course, or Bettendorf City Hall. Completed applications can be turned in at the Bettendorf Community Center. Applications can also be filled out online at bettendorf.org/parkambassador.
