With locations in Potomac, Bethesda and Reston, Gregorio’s Trattoria is refreshingly simple in décor and philosophy. “It’s all about relationships,” says Donald Kahn, who opened the first Gregorio’s in Reston with son, Greg, 15 years ago. “We treat our customers like they’re guests in our home.” And their guests keep coming back for Gregorio’s “hit parade” of Italian favorites: pasta, pizza, chicken, veal and seafood dishes—all prepared from scratch with fresh, local ingredients—with half-priced wine on Wednesdays. “We cook to please our guests,” says Greg Kahn, co-owner and manager. The father-and-son partners are fixtures in their restaurants, welcoming customers and engaging them in warm conversation. Many patrons have been eating at Gregorio’s from the restaurant’s start. “We love to watch their families grow,” Greg says, “and to watch the growth of our staff.”
Giving back to the community is a tradition at Gregorio’s. “Fun-raisers” are invited on their website, and the beloved neighborhood restaurant has hosted many. Causes range from local team sports to breast cancer research— anything that’s important to their guests. With a fourth restaurant slated to open in Park Potomac next year, the Kahns remain committed to delivering the highest quality food in a warm, welcoming environment. “At the end of the day,” Greg says, “I ask myself, ‘Have I done everything I can for our guests and staff to make their experience the very best it can possibly be?’ When I can say yes, I sleep well at night.” That’s the Gregorio’s success story.
