Teen Community

The first semester of the Teen Collab has been incredibly successful. In conjunction with five other Conservative synagogues-–JCC Harrison, Pelham Jewish Center, Shaarei Tikvah, Temple Israel Center, and Westchester Jewish Center— this program features opportunities for dynamic and engaging learning for our teens. Located at the JCC, there are two modules left this year (winter, spring) and each module features multiple tracks for teens to choose from. Teens can learn about Israeli Culture with one of our Shinshinim, dive into ideas about Jewish social justice and issues in our broader Westchester community, or take part in a Jewish leadership course co-taught by clergy from all of the synagogues (this track is for 11th and 12th graders only!). We are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner across communities and allow our teens to engage with new peers and educators.

In addition to the Westchester Teen Collab, the first half of the year has flown by with many events and we’re having a blast. We are so proud of all of the teens who participated in Youth and Family Engagement Shabbat-- it was amazing to see the synagogue full of families and to hear teens reading Torah, teaching, and leading services!

The focus for the winter and spring is enhancing our programming with Shabbat activities (join us Shabbat morning, February 4th!) and lounge nights (the next one is January 25th!). Our mix between offsite activities and ritual events, leadership opportunities, volunteering, and learning together give space for every teen to find something that fits them.
