GA ME PR E V IE W The Pilots will look to dig themselves out of a couple holes tonight, both literally and figuratively, as they welcome in the Goshen Maple Leafs into the Wiekamp Athletic Center. A game that was originally scheduled for Tuesday night had to be rescheduled after Mishawaka was pounded by more than a foot of snow Tuesday and Wednesday. The Pilots also find themselves mired in a five-game losing streak, their longest such streak since losing eight straight games in January of 2006. The Pilots will also look to avoid falling to a winning percentage of .500 since they were at 5-5 through the first ten games of the 2006-07 season. Senior Caleb Laidig continues his climb up the standings in the career record book. Laidig enters the game with 399 career assists, looking to become the 17th Pilot in history to accomplish that feat. He would also become the 8th Pilot in history to score 1,000 points, gather 500 rebounds, and dish out 400 assists. Laidig sits at 41st all-time with 1,184 points, just 13 points shy of Jeff Clay. He sits tied for 28th all-time with Mark Lettinga with 590 rebounds, just 4 rebounds shy of Steve Brown. Laidig also is in the top ten in career steals at 9th with 19, just 3 steals shy of Mark Galloway. Senior Joe Welch is also approaching some record categories in his own right. Welch enters the game with a .651 field goal percentage in 2010-11, which is currently good for 5th in single season program history. He also sits at a .594 field goal percentage for his career, which is good for 6th all-time. Entering tonight’s game, Welch has 627 career points and 423 career rebounds. The senior class of Laidig and Welch have never lost a game to Goshen in their careers (7-0).
