The January Sproul Lanes Student of the Month is Billy Beggs, a Junior at Archbishop John Carroll High School! Billy received a Certificate of Achievement, and looks forward to enjoying his award: a “Pizza Bowl” party courtesy of Sproul Lanes, our Sponsor of this program.
During his three years at Carroll, Billy has been a member of his school’s Community Service Corps (CSC), a service organization whose projects include food and clothing drives. This year, Billy helped package up Thanksgiving meals for several dozen local families. He and other CSC members helped wrap donated Christmas gifts and package Christmas dinners for those same families.
Billy has also participated in Carroll’s annual PatrioTHON, an annual marathon dance event that raises funds to benefit Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). He hopes it will be held again this spring not only because it’s fun but because funds raised help such a good cause.

Another good cause Billy has supported is The Lustgarten Foundation’s pancreatic cancer research. In memory of his maternal grandmother who passed away in 2015 from that disease, Billy has participated in Lustgarten’s annual fundraiser walk.
Billy also serves as a team member on his school’s soccer team (two years) and lacrosse teams (three years). His favorite sport is lacrosse because it’s so fast-paced and requires constant interaction with his teammates and the opponent’s team. Billy gives back to younger kids who also love lacrosse by volunteering at Native Lacrosse, a Marple area camp and club where he teaches and coaches kids in grades K-8 lacrosse rules and techniques.
Billy says he plans on studying Aerospace Engineering in college, to prepare him for a career working for NASA.
