Worn Carpeting or Flooring? A little less pile and an upgraded pad can sometimes give the same feeling as a heavier piece of carpet. This type of solution often provides the same durability and wearability. If you already have hard flooring or are considering getting hard flooring to replace carpeting, there are all kinds of options: Luxury vinyl plank, waterproof laminate, waterproof real hardwood planks, and real hardwood ¾". You can also get engineered hardwood, which is a little thinner with a more stable backing for expansion and contraction. s you’ve been stuck in your house for the past few months, you may have noticed that your carpet or flooring is starting to look a little “off,” tired, or more worn in some areas or spots than others. It might be time to replace that old dingy carpet or flooring. If it’s carpeting and it’s not too bad, you could try to get it professionally cleaned. If you do go that route and your carpeting is still under warranty, be sure to use a certified carpet cleaning professional so you don’t void the warranty. Your carpeting will stay looking — and smelling — good longer when you vacuum it as often as possible. That’s in addition to having it cleaned every 12-18 months.

If you’re thinking of replacing your existing carpeting, consider how much wear and tear it will take. Will there be a lot of foot traffic? Pets? Will this be carpeting at an entrance where a lot of dirt and debris gets tracked in from outside? While your budget is always a factor in any purchase, keep in mind that better carpeting, which is usually more expensive, will wear better than cheaper carpeting. Does it make sense to pay a lot less but then need to recarpet again a few years later because of many signs of wear? Mid-priced carpeting could be your best choice.
