Our October Student of the Month by Liz Burnett B&E Sportswear is pleased to announce the October Student of the Month Award Winner: Marple Newtown High School junior Amanda Ly. To celebrate this recognition, Amanda receives a Certificate of Achievement and a Wawa gift card. Since 6th grade, Amanda has been an all-honors student. Her academic, service and leadership achievements have qualified her to be inducted in the National Honor Society and also the International Spanish Honor Society. Amanda has played field hockey for five years. She also played lacrosse and ran track and field, but loves field hockey the most. It has helped develop her teamwork, leadership and time management skills. To give back to the community, she participates in service projects organized by her field hockey team; by Interact (the school’s student-driven community service club); and by the school’s Spanish Honor Society. She also heads a committee on mini-THON (the high school version of Penn State’s THON), which raises funds to find a cure for pediatric cancer.
