The St Mary’s Quarter gets a fresh burst of energy

The St Mary’s Quarter – St Mary’s St, St Mary’s Hill and the adjoining streets and lanes – is a hotspot for independent shops and very much one of the reasons that Stamford was recently adjudged by the Sunday Times to be ‘The Best Place to Live in Britain’. And in the last year in particular, the area has surged forward. Many new shops and services have opened, and Nicholas Rudd-Jones went out to find out more about them. Riverside upstairs

avin Hynes, Director of Budworth Hardcastle Property Consultants, responsible for letting many of the properties in the Quarter, is very optimistic about the economic picture: “The old Meander Shop has been let. Demand is as strong now for shops as it has been at any point in the past five years. The landlords have never simply accepted the first (or highest) offer and try and have a feel for what will work. Vacancy rates are much lower than the UK average.”
