Retirement Living at Stukeley Court, Stamford Savills invited us to take a look around Stukeley Court, a stunning development of 35 premium luxury apartments recently built close to town along the Barnack Rd

HE first thing we noticed arriving on foot is just what a good location this is in Barnack Rd, just across the road from the vast expanse of Burghley Park and a 5-minute walk to the town centre, via the charming Albert Footbridge across the Welland. We went along for the regular Thursday morning coffee morning where residents meet in the lounge, socialise, and are updated on any development issues. Immediately we walked in, the atmosphere felt like a bunch of good friends catching up with each other – and with good coffee and cakes thrown in we just didn’t feel like leaving. Convivial, yet independent The lounge and patio/garden beyond is at the heart of what this development offers – top quality style, and sociability. Simply put, it’s a fun place to be and you are still a homeowner with your own front door and complete privacy. We got to talk to the residents and found that they were typically drawn to the area because they had offspring living nearby, and the location and proximity to both shops and green spaces appealed strongly to them. Ranging in age from early 60s to 80s, perhaps more importantly they all shared the same attitude – a desire to explore, meet people and enjoy life. Looking around the lounge, with the sound of laughter and conversation ringing out,

really felt like being at home or in a hotel. And this impression is re-enforced by the décor – immaculately appointed, including good pictures and a sprinkling of antiques, making it feel like the smartest of homes or country hotels. Our first impression when entering was ‘I’d like to live here’. There is a sense in the design that someone has thought hard about how to maximise its utility and comfort.
