While searching for his successor, the wise old king hatched a plot. He announced a contest to find whoever could grow the most beautiful plant from the seeds he distributed.
A young boy, thrilled at this notion stepped up and collected his seed. He planted, watered and cared for the seed for months but to no avail. No plantwould grow. The deadlinedrew close, and he feared his fate.
He looked defeated with his shoulders slumped, only to havehis life change forever. He could not believe his eyes as he was declared the winner. For the wise king had distributed boiled seeds to all and any child who claimed to have grown a plant from it was caught in a fib.
In standing by his empty pot, the littleboy showed honesty and courage, qualitiesfit for an emperor. The boy was crowned, and they lived happilyever after.
His fears were realized as he reached the palace with his empty pot, only to see all the other children with beautiful blooms. Frustrated and alone, the little boy could not understand what he did wrong.
The king approached and evaluated everyone’s results. The boy felt ashamed and yet he stood his ground and displayed the empty pot.
Moral of the story:
Always stay true, even when the situation looks bleak.
We have the answers. But what was the question? Try and guess.
