Kennedy Memorial Stadium, (better known as RFK Stadium) scored three new dining ventures this year, adding more local stands to the usual mix of food vendors. For those who like pizza, Annapolis' Ledo Pizza has two stands serving up pepperoni and cheese pizza, and you can get a hotdog and pizza combo. If you're in Parking Lot 8, Papusa Man has tailgating options for those who like authentic Mexican food. There are, however, those of us who are looking for a few healthy choices, and two new vendors deliver somewhat lower calorie and vegetarian options. Here is an excellent recipe for pulled pork rub that you will find quite easy to make. You need a crockpot for this recipe and a few herbs and seasonings. The dish is worth the wait because you will savor the fabulous aroma once the pork is cooked. Prepare the smoker. Liberally oil the grate. Add hickory wood chunks to the hot coals, and try to keep the temperature around 220 to 230 degrees. Place a meat thermometer (one that is used for staying in the meat while cooking) in the center of the butt. Add the meat to the smoker slow cooker pulled pork barbecue put on lid. Don't remove the lid of the smoker, as it will decrease the temperature and will take longer to cook. Todays family is usually pressed for time to sit down and eat, especially eating together as a family. There's where the slow cooker pulled pork cooker comes in handy. I have tons of slow cooker recipes, and can find just about anything to cook that my kids will like to eat. Because I loved almost any meat cooked in barbeque sauce, it was inevitable that I eventually visit the south. The south is the bbq capital of the world. I had found out about the world famous bb's in the Deep South and my mouth watered just thinking about the food, as I packed my bags. I even did a little research to find out where the best barbeque sauce was served. Everyone told me that I had to try a slow cooker pulled pork sandwich and wash it down with sweat tea if I wanted to know-how true bbq. The best thing about a slow cooker, of course, is that it frees you to do other things while the food is cooking. You can place all of the ingredients into your crock pot or other slow cooker, and your food will be ready and waiting when you arrive home. Even though Arthur Bryant's is now well-known throughout the country and KC Masterpiece is the most popular premium BBQ sauce in the US, the locals all have their own favorites, as we have more than a hundred barbeque restaurants to choose from! Some like Gates and Sons, another direct descendant of the Henry Perry tradition. Jack's Stack is also excellent and has several popular locations. But my favorite is Oklahoma Joe's, even if it does mention another state in its title! The name comes from the manufacturer of the smoker they used to win their barbeque awards. Their first restaurant in Kansas City was in a gas station, but that soon became too popular and they had to add another location. They've a heavenly apple pie pudding, which is properly served with US citizens cheese. I personally prefer it with a scoop of vanilla. And don't think they're only about lunch or dinner; they have got a great breakfast menu. They also have M-F 6-11 AM specials, including a homemade cinnamon roll.
