More than 700 residents attended the Employ Wandsworth jobs fair held in the heart of the Roehampton community.

They were able to chat to more than 50 companies looking for local talent. There was also the opportunity to get advice on training and career development and take part in workshops. Companies taking part included Gravity, Hyatt Hotels, Marks and Spencer, Abelio and Taylor Wimpey – all seeking to recruit local people to local jobs.

This year Employ Wandsworth moved away from the borough’s town hall and was held at Whitelands College in Roehampton, organised by Work Match.

Deputy Council Leader Kemi Akinola said: “Employ Wandsworth is always a brilliant event that showcases local jobs, and this year we were determined to hold it where local people said it was most needed. If you weren’t able to go along don’t worry – you can still get in touch with our Work Match team and get help with your job search.”

The Wandsworth Council-run Work Match service is a jobs brokerage matching up local people and Wandsworth-based companies with job opportunities. The free service also provides support, guidance and training on searching for work.
