Attendees will hear how local businesses, such as GSK and MBDA, have benefited from their sustainable travel plans and will also have the opportunity to discuss how their own organisations and staff can benefit through the Smartgo Stevenage network. Smartgo Stevenage is co-ordinated by Go Travel Solutions and works in partnership with Stevenage Borough Council, Hertfordshire County Council, Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Highways Agency and GlaxoSmithKline.

Smartgo offers employees of participating companies discounts on public transport with Arriva, Centrebus and First Capital Connect. It also provides practical help and advice across all forms of travel. Companies also benefit by easing parking demand, cutting business travel costs, reducing their carbon footprint and enhancing their corporate reputation by embracing sustainable travel. Martin Wigley, Operation Manager at GSK, said: “The scheme now includes all areas of Stevenage which can only be of benefit to the whole community through increased discounts and more effective sustainable travel programmes.” Councillor Ralph Raynor, Portfolio Holder for Economy, Enterprise & Transport, Stevenage Borough Council, added: “Trying to influence travel to work behaviour is a huge challenge and particularly important for Stevenage given the congestion issues on the A1(M).” To reserve your place at the Smarter Travel Forum on Thursday May 15th please visit https://get-smarter.eventbrite.co.uk. Alternatively, please contact the Smartgo team on 0116 216 8326 or email info@smartgo.co.uk.
