• Design revolves around the severe infrastructural and social problems of Skopje. As a remedy, social and infrastructural needs are combined in a singular megastructure, which is constructed upon the car roads, as al transport is transformed into self sufficient and mass transit systems.
• Megastructure is designed to create maximum amount of interaction by means of fluid spaces and various uses, which are placed intermingled. Interaction in both passive and active state is pursued by the new structure. • Its aim is to improve social relations by means of mixing them in various senses, to create a bigger network of interactions between citizens. • After selecting the positive nodes and heritage in the city, all of the unplanned development is turned into the megastructure.
• In the creation of the new megastructure, the natural wonder of Skopje, Cave Virelo, is taken as a inspiration. It’s mode of creation is translated into axes that bend, interwine and merge into each other, meanwhile changing shape and volume. • Tange’s view of a megastructure on top of transportation infrastructure is also taken as a foundation to build upon, with the megastructure connected to a maglev train network, and his axis idea into the concept that treating former car roads as axes that are already present in the site.
