On the pulse at Medplus

Dr Martin Hadler returns to the Shore Many of you may recognise Martin as he spent 20 years working on the Shore, including 14 years working in the emergency department at North Shore Hospital, helping Shore residents through their times of crisis. Whether he tended to your asthma, sewed up your wounds, dealt with your pneumonia or treated your heart attack you are likely to remember him for his personable manner, reassuring words and clinical efficiency. Since 2007 he has been on an extended O.E., working in Ireland and then Australia. However, there was no place like the Shore when he decided it was time to settle down for good with his wife Karen and son Elliot. Whilst overseas in Brisbane Martin decided on a career change and moved to primary care. He completed a Diploma in Paediatrics at Sydney University which complimented his emergency and surgical expertise in paediatrics. He also developed his skills in minor surgery, mental health, addiction medicine and sports medicine. As a general practitioner he enjoys getting to know his patients well and being able to support them throughout every stage of life.

Whilst overseas in Brisbane Martin decided on a career change and moved to primary care. He completed a Diploma in Paediatrics at Sydney University which complimented his emergency and surgical expertise in paediatrics. Martin looked around the general practices on the Shore and decided that Medplus would be a perfect fit for him. He identified with its culture of ‘going the extra mile’ for patients and liked the friendly and efficient team. Medplus is a new comer to the Shore, having been opened in 2011 by 4 local GPs who created a fully integrated medical centre, with attached pharmacy, radiology, physiotherapy and psychology. Situated on Lake Road at Hauraki Corner Medplus was built to serve the Devonport Peninsula and Takapuna, however patients travel to Medplus from all over Auckland. One of the convenient features of Medplus is that it is open 7 days a week and on weekdays it has extended opening hours from 8am to 8pm. Fortunately Martin is not shy of hard work, as

well as working every weekday he will be doing the late night on Mondays and will be working a share of weekends. Martin is welcoming new patients of all ages, and looking forward to reacquainting himself with some of his previous clients.
