Brew beer at home like a master brewer!
WilliamsWarn’s Personal Brewery now available on the Shore. This news has to be the personal nirvana for local home brewers. The sensational WilliamsWarn Personal Brewery is now available locally on the North Shore from Harvey Norman Wairau Park. In simple terms this is a home brewing device that makes beer the same way as professional brewers, eliminating the imperfections associated with traditional home brewing. WilliamsWarn say their Personal Brewery is the miracle that beer drinkers have been praying for. After 5000 years of brewing, the technology finally exists to allow you to brew the perfect beer at home or at your workplace. The story is an interesting one that Channel Magazine caught up with when co-inventor Ian Williams visited Harvey Norman Wairau Park in late October. Ian was the first New Zealander and youngest person in the world to be awarded the Master Brewer qualification by the Institute of Brewing, London. In 1998, a beer he made (while working for Tiger Beer) beat 188 other beers to win the title of The World’s Best Lager at the Brewing Industry International Awards. In 2006, after absorbing the knowledge of over 60 breweries in 20 countries, Ian returned home to create the WilliamsWarn Personal Brewery with Anders Warn. In 2004, whilst Ian was working out of Denmark as an international brewing consultant (for Carlsberg) and professional beer taster, he was challenged by his Uncle (a frustrated home brewer) to invent the worlds first personal brewery. After two years part-time research he returned to New Zealand in 2006 and started full time research and development with help from his friend, Anders Warn. Finally in April 2011, after several rounds of serious investment, hundreds of brews and blind tastings and after many industrial prototypes, the first units and the ingredients to be used in them were ready for sale. The result is cold, perfectly carbonated, clear, professional quality beer made in 7 days, like a modern brewery. All 80 official beer styles can be made as well as the option to develop your own. The high quality of the beer became evident for all to see in June 2012, when a WilliamsWarn brewer won Gold for his Pilsner at the Asian Beer Awards, with
his 3rd batch in a WilliamsWarn, beating 45 full-scale breweries. It was the first time a homebrewer has ever beaten the big players. Now in 2013, the WilliamsWarn Gen2 brewery has been launched and is available right now at Harvey Norman Wairau Park – and it’s even better than the Gen1. The WilliamsWarn Personal Brewery has six main very important features that, when combined together, create the world’s first all-in-one brewing appliance. The current design is for 23 litres of beer. “There are 12 problems associated with traditional home brewing and we have solved them all,” explained Ian Williams. “This allows WilliamsWarn Personal Brewery to make the freshest beer on the planet with minimum effort. We sold 70 when we launched in the first year and have sold over 200 alone this year since launching the WilliamsWarn Gen2 in January. We have a number of customers right here on the North Shore who are thrilled with their purchase and the quality of the beer they are now brewing.”
